Peam Ro
Peam Ro ( km, ស្រុកពាមរក៏, ) is a district located in Prey Veng Province, in south eastern Cambodia. Peam Ro district is a district located in Prey Veng province, in south eastern Cambodia. It is bordered with Peam Chor and Preah Sdach districts to the south, Ba Phnum and Svay Antor districts to the east, and Krong Prey Veng and Kampong Leav to the north. Mekong River stretches along the border between PMR and LDK dividing the area into two different districts. Most communes in this low land district are clustered along the banks of the river, and therefore boats are an important form of transport during rainy season. PMR is subdivided into 8 (eight) communes further subdivided into 41 villages. The district covers 20,390 ha: 14,300 ha for cultivation, 2,846 ha for construction, 798 ha flooded forest, and 2,446 ha of other land. Provinces Of Cambodia
Cambodia is divided into 25 provinces ( km, ខេត្ត, ). The capital Phnom Penh is not a province but an "autonomous municipality" ( km, រាជធានី, link=no, ; lit. 'Capital'), equivalent to a province governmentally and administered at the same level as the other 24 provinces. Phnom Penh has both the highest population and the highest population density of all provinces, but is the second smallest in land area. The largest province by area is Mondulkiri and the smallest is Kep which is also the least populated province. Mondulkiri has the lowest population density. Ba Phnum District
Ba Phnum ( km, បាភ្នំ, ), sometime spelled as Ba Phnom, is a district located in Prey Veng Province, in south eastern Cambodia. The hills surrounding the town are the highest elevation points in Prey Veng province. In Khmer, ''Ba'' means "ancestor" and ''Phnum'' means "hill." When combined, the town is known as "Hill of the Ancestors." Ba Phnum is a relatively remote location and has been attractive to ascenti monks (loak dhutang) for centuries. It has also been an occasional center from which millennial movements have radiated throughout Khmer history. Ba Phnum is a site of interest for Cambodian historians. According to some accounts, the area is the birthplace of the Khmer people. An inscription on Wat Jaan, the pre-Angkorian temple at the base of the mountain (ca. 629 AD), associates Ba Phnum with Shiva and refers to it as "the holy mountain." Neak Leung
Neak Loeung (also romanized as ''Nak Loeung'', km, អ្នកលឿង) is a busy commercial town in Prey Veng Province, Cambodia. Located on the Mekong and astride National Highway number 1, it is the commune centre for Neak Leung commune and the capital of Peam Ror District. The town can be reached by car ferry from Kampong Phnum in Kandal Province or by boat along the Mekong river. Due to its strategic location, the town and port of Neak Leung has been a significant battleground at various times in Cambodia's history. In August 1973, during the Cambodian Civil War, Neak Leung was propelled to the centre of international attention when an American B-52 Stratofortress mistakenly dropped its 20-ton load on the town centre. National Highway 1 (Cambodia)
National Highway 1 or National Road No.1 (10001) is one of the national highways of Cambodia. With a length of , it connects the capital of Phnom Penh, through Prey Veng Province, with Bavet, Svay Rieng Province on the border with Vietnam, and continues in Vietnam as the QL22 Highway to Ho Chi Minh City in the south east. In Phnom Penh the road converges with National Highway 2 near Monivong Bridge and National Highway 5 at Stat Chas Circle Garden, near the French Embassy.
