Peace (Sabrina Johnston Song)
"Peace" (also known as "Peace (In the Valley)") is a song by American singer Sabrina Johnston, originally released in the US on JBR Records in May 1991. It was released as the first single from her debut studio album, ''Peace'' (1992). The single reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart and entered the top 30 in Australia, Ireland, Italy and Sweden. It was written and produced by Johnston with help from her husband Ken Johnston. She told in a 1991 interview, that she wrote the song during the Gulf War. "I wanted to create something positive", she said. In 1992, Johnston appeared on the Red Hot Organization's dance compilation album, ''Red Hot + Dance'', contributing a new remix of "Peace", the Nu-Mix, to raise awareness and money in support of the AIDS epidemic. Sabrina Johnston is an American singer, best known for her 1991 club anthem, "Peace", which reached the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart. Career Johnston grew up in the United States attending summer music camps, dance and voice classes before enrolling at Cheyney State University as a music major. James Hamilton (25 December 1942 – 17 June 1996) was a British DJ and dance music columnist for ''Record Mirror'', and later for ''Music Week'', where he worked until his death in 1996. He is recognised as a pioneering advocate of disco mixing in the UK and the addition of beats per minute (bpm) calculations to record reviews. Hamilton started as a DJ in his early 20s, playing rhythm & blues in a nightclubs in London. He then headed to New York to work for Seltaeb, the US company who’d acquired the merchandising rights for The Beatles, becoming a talent scout for their newly formed music division. After returning to the UK, he adopted the DJ name Doctor Soul, and also compiled an album with this title for Sue Records.
