Peace (Eurythmics Album)
''Peace'' is the eighth and final studio album by British pop duo Eurythmics, released on 19 October 1999 by RCA Records. It was the band's first album of new material in 10 years, following 1989's ''We Too Are One''. Release and reception Following their first performance together in eight years at a record company party in 1998, Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart began writing and recording together for the first time since 1989. The album's title was designed to reflect the duo's ongoing concern with global conflict and world peace. It was promoted with a concert on the Greenpeace vessel ''Rainbow Warrior II'', where they played a mixture of old and new songs. A 24-date world tour, titled the Peacetour, followed soon after, with all profits donated to Amnesty International and Greenpeace. Eurythmics
Eurythmics were a British Pop music, pop duo consisting of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart (musician and producer), Dave Stewart. They were both previously in The Tourists, a band which broke up in 1980. The duo released their first studio album, ''In the Garden (Eurythmics album), In the Garden'', in 1981 to little success, but went on to achieve global acclaim when their second album ''Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) (album), Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)'', was released in 1983. The Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), title track became a worldwide hit, reaching #2 in the UK Singles Chart and #6 in Australia, before hitting #1 in Canada and the US Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Peacetour (Eurythmics Video)
''Peacetour'' is a live concert video by the British pop/rock duo Eurythmics released on 20 June 2000 on VHS and DVD. It is a recording of the band's concert at London Docklands Arena on 6 December 1999, which was the final show of their 24-date world "Peace Tour". All profits from the tour were donated to Amnesty International and Greenpeace. The live concert features a selection of hits from Eurythmics' successful 1980s period, and several newer tracks from the band's comeback album ''Peace'' (1999). The 1985 album track " I Love You Like a Ball and Chain" is also performed, as well as two 1992 hits from Annie Lennox's solo career, " Why" and "Walking on Broken Glass". Andy Wright (music Producer)
Andy M Wright (born 1962) is a London-based music producer, songwriter, and arranger who has worked with international artists such as Simply Red and Mick Hucknall, Simple Minds, Jeff Beck, Eurythmics, Dave Stewart, Toše Proeski, Atomic Kitten, Imelda May, and Andreas Vollenweider. Since the mid 1980's, he has worked as a programmer, keyboard player, session musician, musical arranger, and notably, a producer on projects spanning multiple music genres. Early career Beginning in the mid-1980s, Wright played and performed in various bands and worked for a keyboard and equipment rental company in London, delivering and setting up instruments and studio gear for recording sessions. Something In The Air (song)
"Something in the Air" is a song by English rock band Thunderclap Newman, written by Speedy Keen who also sang the song. It was a No. 1 single for three weeks in the UK Singles Chart in July 1969. The song has been used for films, television and adverts, and has been covered by several artists. The track was also included on Thunderclap Newman's only album release '' Hollywood Dream'' over a year later. Background In 1969, Pete Townshend, The Who's guitarist, was the catalyst behind the formation of the band. The concept was to create a band to perform songs written by drummer and singer Speedy Keen, who had written "Armenia City in the Sky", the first track on ''The Who Sell Out''. Townshend recruited jazz pianist Andy "Thunderclap" Newman (a friend from art college), and 15-year-old guitarist Jimmy McCulloch, who later played lead guitar in Paul McCartney and Wings. It was founded in 1986 by broadcast journalists Mark Ellen and David Hepworth, who were presenters of the BBC television music series '' The Old Grey Whistle Test''.
