Henry King (director)
Henry King (January 24, 1886June 29, 1982) was an American actor and film director. Widely considered one of the finest and most successful filmmakers of his era, King was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Director, and directed seven films nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Biography Before coming to film, King worked as an actor in various repertoire theatres and first started to take small film roles in 1912. Between 1913 and 1925, he appeared as an actor in approximately sixty films. He directed for the first time in 1915 and grew to become one of the most commercially successful Hollywood directors of the 1920s and '30s. He was twice nominated for the Best Director Oscar. Marguerite Olive Nichols (August 3, 1891 – March 17, 1941) was an American silent film actress. She starred in 21 films between 1915 and 1918. Actress Norma Nichols was her sister. Marriage and death Nichols was born in Los Angeles, California. She was married to comedy film producer Hal Roach for the last 26 years of her life. (He survived her by more than a half-century, dying at age 100 in 1992). They had two children, Hal Jr. and Margaret Roach. She died from pneumonia on March 17, 1941, in Los Angeles. Gordon Sackville (born 1880 - August 6, 1926) was a film actor. Earlier in his career he appeared on stage. He was part of several Hobart Bosworth productions.
