Neo-psychedelia
Neo-psychedelia is a diverse genre of psychedelic music that draws inspiration from the sounds of 1960s psychedelia, either updating or copying the approaches from that era. Originating in the 1970s, it has occasionally seen mainstream pop success but is typically explored within alternative rock scenes. It initially developed as an outgrowth of the British post-punk scene, where it was also known as acid punk. After post-punk, neo-psychedelia flourished into a more widespread and international movement of artists who applied the spirit of psychedelic rock to new sounds and techniques. Neo-psychedelia may also include forays into psychedelic pop, jangly guitar rock, heavily distorted free-form jams, or recording experiments. A wave of British alternative rock in the 1980s spawned the subgenres dream pop and shoegazing. Characteristics Neo-psychedelic acts borrowed a variety of elements from 1960s psychedelic music. Some emulated the psychedelic pop of bands like the Beat ...

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti
Ariel Marcus Rosenberg ( ; born June 24, 1978), professionally known as Ariel Pink, is an American musician, singer, and songwriter whose work draws heavily from the popular music of the 1960s–1980s. His lo-fi aesthetic and home-recorded albums proved influential to many indie musicians starting in the late 2000s. He is frequently cited as "godfather" of the hypnagogic pop and chillwave movements, and he is credited with galvanizing a larger trend involving the evocation of the media, sounds, and outmoded technologies of prior decades, as well as an equal appreciation for high and low art in independent music. A native of Los Angeles, Pink began experimenting with recording songs on an eight-track Portastudio as a teenager. His early influences were artists such as Michael Jackson, the Cure, and R. Stevie Moore. The majority of his recorded output stems from a prolific eight-year period (1996–2003) in which he accumulated over 200 cassette tapes of material. Virtually a ...

Here Comes The Indian
''Here Comes the Indian'' is the first album by the American experimental pop band Animal Collective under that name, released June 17, 2003 on Paw Tracks. It is the first release by the group on which all four members perform together: Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Geologist (Brian Weitz), and Deakin (Josh Dibb). Three earlier albums released by various combinations of these musicians were not billed as Animal Collective until later; the 2003 album is now considered the band's fourth. In 2020, the band renamed the album ''Ark'' because they felt the first title objectified Native Americans. Reception Reviewing ''Here Comes the Indian'' for '' Stylus Magazine'', Ed Howard afforded the album favorable comparisons to Boredoms' '' Super æ'' and ''Vision Creation Newsun''. ''The Rolling Stone Album Guide'' described the album as more "claustrophobic" than earlier releases by Animal Collective. ''Uncut''s reviewer compared the band to the Residents, "whose ...

It was reissued as a double CD along with ''Danse Manatee'' in 2003 on FatCat Records, and later on limited edition vinyl through FatCat. Both UK and US pressings used direct metal mastering. Background All of the songs were written by Avey Tare (David Portner) from 1997 to 1999, except for "Penny Dreadfuls" which was written when he was 16 years old.
