Pavel Pereleshin
Pavel Alexandrovich Pereleshin (russian: Павел Александрович Перелешин, 27 June 1821 – 28 February 1901) was a Russian admiral and general. After graduating from the Saint Petersburg Naval Corps in 1834, Pavel Pereleshin served as midshipman in the Baltic Fleet on frigate ''Neva'', and was promoted to the rank of warrant officer in the Black Sea Fleet in 1837. In 1839, he participated in the landing operation near Su-bashi (in modern Sochi), Caucasus, and was awarded the Order of St. Anna, 4th grade for courage. In 1840 Pereleshin mapped the coastline on board the schooner ''Zabiyaka''. He participated in the Crimean War and was awarded an Order of St.Vladimir for the Battle of Sinop in 1853 on board the battleship ''Paris''. During the Siege of Sevastopol (1854), he was in charge of the 5th section of the Russian defense line. He was wounded twice, on 28 March and on 26 May 1855. Azov Sea
The Sea of Azov ( Crimean Tatar: ''Azaq deñizi''; russian: Азовское море, Azovskoye more; uk, Азовське море, Azovs'ke more) is a sea in Eastern Europe connected to the Black Sea by the narrow (about ) Strait of Kerch, and is sometimes regarded as a northern extension of the Black Sea. The sea is bounded by Russia on the east, by Ukraine on the northwest and southwest. The sea is largely affected by the inflow of the Don, Kuban, and other rivers, which bring sand, silt, and shells, which in turn form numerous bays, limans, and narrow spits. Because of these deposits, the sea bottom is relatively smooth and flat with the depth gradually increasing toward the middle. Also, due to the river inflow, water in the sea has low salinity and a high amount of biomass (such as green algae) that affects the water colour. Ivan Alexeyevich Shestakov (russian: Ива́н Алексе́евич Шестако́в; 13 April 1820 – 3 December 1888) was a Russian naval officer, statesman, and writer. Early years Shestakov was born in the village of Syrokorenye in Smolensk Governorate to the Russian noble family of captain-lieutenant Alexey Antonovich Shestakov and Yevdokiya Ivanovna Khrapovitskaya. After finishing his studies at the Naval Cadet Corps (1830–1836), he served in the Black Sea Fleet. In 1837, Shestakov participated in the landing operation near Cape Konstantinovsky for which he was decorated with an order and promoted to the rank of midshipman. The Governor of Taganrog (russian: Таганрогское градоначальство) was the head of the Taganrog ''borough'' or ''governorate'' (incorporated municipality with privileges given by royal charter), between October 8, 1802 and May 19, 1887. Taganrog was also the center of uezd (including the cities of Rostov on Don, Nakhichevan on Don and Mariupol) from 1816 to 1834. Rostov was subordinated to Yekaterinoslav Governorate in 1834, while Nakhichevan and Mariupol remained within Taganrog's governorate until 1859. Mikhail Andrianovich Lavrov () (1799–1882) was a Russian rear-admiral and Arctic explorer. Mikhail Lavrov was born on 13 September 1799 in the city of Arkhangelsk. He graduated from Cadets Corps in Saint Petersburg and served at the Baltic Fleet. He participated in the voyage of the cargo ship ''Mezen'' from Kronstadt to Arkhangelsk and back in 1819–1820.
