Pavel Francouz
Pavel Francouz (; born 3 June 1990) is a Czech professional ice hockey goaltender for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). Francouz won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022. Playing career Czech Republic Francouz first played at the junior level within the ranks of hometown club, HC Plzeň. As a 15-year-old he backstopped the club's under-18 team in the 2005–06 season posting sub 2.00 GAA. In the following 2006–07 season he led the league with 25 wins. In the 2007–08 season, Francouz assumed the starting goaltender position at the highest junior level in the Czech Republic at the under-20 league. He recorded 25 wins in 37 games to lead the club into the postseason. Czech Republic Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Czech Republic men's national ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team of the Czech Republic. It is one of the most successful national ice hockey teams in the world and a member of the so-called " Big Six", the unofficial group of the six strongest men's ice hockey nations, along with Canada, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States. It is governed by the Czech Ice Hockey Association. The Czech Republic has 85,000 men players officially enrolled in organized hockey (0.8% of its population). Czech Extraliga
The Czech Extraliga ( cs, Extraliga ledního hokeje, ELH) is the highest-level ice hockey league in the Czech Republic. It was created by the 1993 split of the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League following the breakup of Czechoslovakia. The league's season usually takes place between September and April and features 14 teams. It is ranked by the IIHF as the fourth-best league in Europe and the fifth-best in the world. 2015–16 KHL Season
The 2015–16 KHL season was the eighth season of the Kontinental Hockey League. The season started on 24 August 2015 with the Opening Cup between defending champions SKA Saint Petersburg and last year's Continental Cup winners CSKA Moscow, replacing Ak Bars Kazan, the previous season's Gagarin Cup finalists. Team changes Spartak Moscow returned to the league prior to this season. It was also announced by KHL President Dmitry Chernyshenko that Atlant Moscow Oblast would not participate in the league this season due to financial problems. The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL; russian: Континентальная хоккейная лига (КХЛ), Kontinental'naya khokkeynaya liga) is an international professional ice hockey league founded in 2008. It comprises member clubs based in Russia (19), Belarus (1), Kazakhstan (1) and China (1) for a total of 22 clubs. It was considered in 2015 to be the premier professional ice hockey league in Europe and Asia, and the second-strongest in the world behind North America's National Hockey League. HC Slovan Ústečti Lvi is an ice hockey team in the Czech 2nd League (''2. národní hokejová liga'') (the second division). Their home arena is Zlatopramen Arena in Ústí nad Labem. The Chance Liga is the second-highest level of professional ice hockey in the Czech Republic, after the Extraliga. It began in 1993 and is run and administered by Czech Ice Hockey Association. Until 2015, the league was known as the 1st Czech National Hockey League. It was then known as the WSM Liga until 2018. Format In the first phase, every team plays each other four times—twice at home and twice away—which makes for a 52-game regular season. After the 52-game regular season, the first six teams directly qualify for the quarter-finals, while teams which placed 7 to 10 play a round-robin to determine the final two participants in the quarter-finals.
