Paule Gauthier
Paule Gauthier, (1943 – September 20, 2016) was a Canadian lawyer, arbitrator, and public servant. Biography Born in Joliette, Quebec, she received a law degree from Université Laval in 1969. She was a senior partner in the law firm of Desjardins Ducharme Stein Monast and specialised in corporate and commercial law. In 1984 she was appointed to the Security Intelligence Review Committee which oversaw the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and was appointed to the Queen's Privy Council for Canada in accordance with the Official Secrets Act. She served on SIRC from 1984 to 1991 and 1995 to 2005. She served as Chair of SIRC from 1996 to 2005. She served on numerous corporate and government boards and was president of the Canadian Bar Association from 1992 to 1993. She was also on the board of directors of Metro Inc. Jacques Courtois (Canadian)
Edmond Jacques Courtois, (4 July 1920 – 3 July 1996) was a Canadians, Canadian lawyer and public official. Courtois was appointed chair of the Security Intelligence Review Committee on December 23, 1992, the third person ever to chair the body responsible for oversight of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Courtois was born in Montreal. During World War II, he served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and called to the Quebec bar in 1946. He practised law with the firm of MacDougall, MacFarlane, Scott & Hugessen, which later became Courtois, Clarkson, Parsons & Tétreault, until 1982. Following his retirement from his law firm, he served on several board including as chair of the educational publishers McGraw-Hill Ryerson. He was also president of CIIT Inc, vice-president of the Bank of Nova Scotia and also of the Canadian Life Assurance Company as well as on several other boards of directors. Gary Albert Filmon (born August 24, 1942) is Canadian politician from Manitoba. He was the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba from 1983 to 2000, and served as the 19th premier of Manitoba from 1988 to 1999. Political career Early life and municipal career Filmon was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to working class parents, and is of Romanian and Polish-Ukrainian background. His Romanian father anglicized the family name from Filimon to Filmon when he emigrated westward to Canada. Filmon was educated at the University of Manitoba and subsequently worked as a civil engineer. In 1963, he married Janice Wainwright.
