Paul Michael Weir (born June 12, 1979) is the athletic director at Eastern New Mexico University. Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds
The Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds are the athletic teams that represent Eastern New Mexico University, located in Portales, New Mexico, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Greyhounds compete as members of the Lone Star Conference for all 12 varsity sports. Until 2015, Eastern New Mexico had used Zias for the names of female sports teams, but the school announced that Eastern New Mexico will end the use of the Zias name for the female teams, choosing to have Greyhounds for both male and female teams. Western Athletic Conference
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah, Washington (state), Washington, and Texas. Due to most of the conference's College football, football-playing members leaving the WAC for other affiliations, the conference discontinued football as a sponsored sport after the 2012–13 season and left the NCAA's NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-A). 2016–17 New Mexico State Aggies Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 New Mexico State Aggies men's basketball team represented New Mexico State University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Aggies, led by first-year head coach Paul Weir, played their home games at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 28–6, 11–3 in WAC play to finish in a tie for second place. They defeated Chicago State, UMKC, and Cal State Bakersfield to win the WAC tournament. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the first round to Baylor. 2016–17 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Season
The 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 11, 2016. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic, and ended with the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona on April 3, 2017. Practices officially began on September 30, 2016. Rule changes The only rule change for the regular season was allowing coaches to ask for timeouts in situations of inbounds on offense or defense. Coaches are still not permitted to call timeouts in live-ball situations. The NCAA approved a number of experimental rule changes for use in the 2017 postseason NIT: * Team fouls were reset to zero at the 10:00 mark of each half. This effectively divided the game into quarters for purposes of team fouls. * The "one-and-one" foul shot was not used. Roy Rana (born December 8, 1968) is a Canadian professional basketball coach who is the head coach for the Kyoto Hannaryz of the B.League and head coach of the Egyptian men's national basketball team. Rana served as head coach for Canada's Senior Men's National Team during the 2019 FIBA World Cup Americas Qualifiers where he led Canada to a 10-2 record and a first place finish in Group F to secure a 2019 FIBA World Cup bid. Maurice Joseph
Maurice Joseph (born August 26, 1985) is a former Canadian basketball player and coach, currently an assistant coach at Butler. He is the former head coach of the George Washington University Colonials men's basketball team. Playing career After a standout prep career at Champlain-St. Lambert in his native Montreal, Joseph committed to play basketball at Michigan State under Tom Izzo. Joseph appeared in 52 games and was a part of two NCAA Tournament squads for the Spartans over a two-year period, averaging 3.8 points per game before transferring to Vermont, closer to his Montreal home. In two seasons with the Catamounts, Joseph was the team's second-leading scorer with 13.9 points per game, helping Vermont to its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010. The Costa Rica national basketball team is the national basketball team from Costa Rica. Team Costa Rica has never qualified for the FIBA World Cup or the FIBA AmeriCup.
