Paul Wayne
Paul Wayne (born Paul Weinberg; 17 January 1932) is a Canadian writer. He wrote sketches of television variety shows, like ''The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour'' that he won an Emmy Award for, and episodes of other television shows, like ''Three's Company''. He also served as producer of only two short-lived sitcoms, ''Doc'' and ''Excuse My French''. Career All together with his writing partner George Burditt and other writing crew, they earned Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Series: ''The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour'' in 1972 and 1974, and ''Van Dyke and Company'' in 1977, a variety show starring Dick Van Dyke. ''Welcome Back, Kotter'' is an American sitcom starring Gabe Kaplan as a high-school teacher in charge of a racially and ethnically diverse remedial education class called the "Sweathogs." Recorded in front of a live studio audience, the series aired on ABC from September 9, 1975, through May 17, 1979. It provided John Travolta with his breakthrough role. Premise The show stars stand-up comedian and actor Gabriel "Gabe" Kaplan as the main character, Gabe Kotter. A wisecracking teacher who returns to his alma mater, James Buchanan High School in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York, to teach a remedial class of loafers, the Sweathogs. The ''Calgary Herald'' is a daily newspaper published in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Publication began in 1883 as ''The Calgary Herald, Mining and Ranche Advocate, and General Advertiser''. It is owned by the Postmedia Network. The ''Ottawa Journal'' was a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from 1885 to 1980. It was founded in 1885 by A. Woodburn as the ''Ottawa Evening Journal''. Its first editor was John Wesley Dafoe who came from the ''Winnipeg Free Press''. In 1886, it was bought by Philip Dansken Ross. The paper began publishing a morning edition in 1917. In 1919, the paper's publishers bought the ''Ottawa Free Press'', whose former owner, E. Norman Smith, then became editor with Grattan O'Leary. In 1959, it was bought by F.P. Publications. By then, the ''Journal'', whose readers tended to come from rural areas, was trailing the ''Ottawa Citizen'', its main competitor. Aeneas MacKenzie
Aeneas MacKenzie, or Æneas MacKenzie (August 15, 1889 in Stornoway, Scotland – June 2, 1962 in Los Angeles), was a Scottish-American screenwriter. MacKenzie wrote many notable Hollywood films, including: ''The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex'' (1939), ''They Died with Their Boots On'' (1941), ''Ivanhoe'' (1952), and ''The Ten Commandments'' (1956).
