Paul Ward (footballer)
Paul Terence Ward (born 15 September 1963) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He made more than 300 appearances in the Football League. Career Ward began his career with Chelsea, and played in the Football League for Middlesbrough, Darlington, Leyton Orient, Scunthorpe United, and Lincoln City, before playing non-league football for Gainsborough Trinity. His first experience as a manager was when he was asked to take over Darlington for the last 13 matches of their Division 3 relegation season. He was the youngest ever manager of a Football League club but reverted to playing duties after the end of the season. In August 2002 he commenced a second spell as manager of Hatfield Main. He steered the club to the verge of promotion to the Premier Division of the Northern Counties East Football League before a late loss of form saw them finish in fifth place and then resign from the league due to financial problems. Fishburn
Fishburn is a village and civil parish in County Durham, in England. It is situated about 12 miles west of Hartlepool. It had a population of 2,454, increasing to 2,588 at the 2011 Census. Location The village lies scattered along a dry swell of Magnesian Limestone, magnesian limestone rising north from the River Skerne (known locally as the "Stream, beck") to approx. 500 ft above sea level. The beck is one of the parish boundaries, as the township of Sedgefield begins on the other side of the river. History The earliest proprietors of the village (and then manor) on record were the family of "Fissebourne". There are a number of theories on how the village got its name. In one book it is stated that the name derives from the saxons, Saxon words "Fisc" meaning fish and " Bourne" meaning brook. Armthorpe is a large village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. Historically within the West Riding of Yorkshire, it had a population of 12,630, increasing to 14,457 at the 2011 Census. History Etymology The settlement of Armthorpe was first recorded in 1086 as 'Ernulfestorp', showing the influence of the Vikings on the region. Its probable origination means outlying farmstead or hamlet (from the Old Scandinavian - thorp) of a man named Earnwulf or Arnulfr. Early history The remains of a Roman village and farm were found on Nutwell Lane and through the centuries Armthorpe was known for its rich farming activities. The 1988– 89 season was the 90th completed season of the Football League. No European qualification took place due to the Heysel Stadium disaster suspension in place. Prior to the 1986–87 season membership of the Football League was dependent on a system of election by the other member teams. From 1986 that system came to an end, and instead, the club finishing last in the Fourth Division was automatically demoted to Conference. This season the casualty was Darlington. Ian Bowling
Ian Bowling (born 27 July 1965) is an English former professional footballer who played as goalkeeper. He is goalkeeping coach at Staveley MWFC. Playing career Bowling started his professional career with Lincoln City whom he joined from Gainsborough Trinity in November 1988. Prior to that, he had spent some time with Stafford Rangers and Frecheville CA. During his time with The Imps, Bowling made 51 appearances for the club. He was also sent out on loan to Hartlepool United, Kettering Town and Bradford City. Following the successful loan spell with Bradford City, Bowling joined them in July 1993. He made 29 appearances joining Mansfield Town in the following season. Bowling will probably be most remembered as a Stags legend as he spent the best part of five seasons, making 172 appearances for the club.
