Paul Turner (born 13 February 1960) is a former Wales international rugby union player and the former head coach of Welsh regional side Newport Gwent Dragons. Playing career Turner was born in Newbridge, and still holds the Newbridge points scoring record of 405 points from season 1983–84 and still remains the only back capped from Newbridge RFC. An outside-half, he was a prolific goal-kicker and is the joint record points holder for Newport RFC. He also played for Pontypool, Newbridge, Bedford and Sale FC. He represented Wales on 3 occasions and played for the Barbarians invitational side three times. Turner represented the Crawshays and the Penguins at the Hong Kong Sevens in 1985, 87 and 88 respectively. Paul Turner (December 1945 – 1 November 2019) was a Welsh film director. His film ''Hedd Wyn (film), Hedd Wyn'' (1992) became the first Welsh film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Born in Devon, Turner learned Welsh while working at the BBC in the early 1980s and was a vocal supporter of Plaid Cymru. He was reportedly "blacklisted" from the BBC for his nationalist views (reported in an article in ''The Observer''). S4C director called him "a man with vision and a fire in his heart for all things Welsh and the Welsh language and his desire to portray that on film". Paul had two daughters during his first marriage to Sheila Ford, He had 3 grandchildren. His second marriage was to Welsh actress Sue Roderick. He died in November 2019 at the age of 73. Paul Turner (born 11 March 1968) is English musician who has been the bassist of the jazz-funk band Jamiroquai since 2005. He has also performed with Annie Lennox since 2002. In his career as a bassist, Turner has recorded and/or performed live with artists including Tina Turner, Bryan Ferry, Tom Jones and George Michael, Take That, Gary Barlow and 911. Paul Turner (February 10, 1923 - December 18, 1980) was an American Baptist pastor notable for his efforts in the integration of Clinton High School in Clinton, Tennessee. Integration crisis Following the U.S. Supreme Court's 1954 ruling in ''Brown v. Board of Education'', Clinton High School was ordered in the fall of 1956 to be the first Tennessee high school to desegregate. While twelve black students started attending the school, after continued physical violence directed at them by both rioters outside the school and white classmates within it, they decided to boycott school in an effort to force the federal courts to intervene.
