Paul Séjourné (21 December 1851; Orléans – 19 January 1939; Paris) was a French engineer who specialized in the construction of large bridges from masonry, a domain in which he made some important innovations. Biography Paul Séjourné graduated from the ''École polytechnique'' in 1873 and the civil engineering grande école '' École nationale des Ponts et Chaussées'' (ENPC) in 1876, he was appointed ''Ingénieur des ponts et chaussées'' in Mende in 1877, then in Toulouse in 1890. In these two positions, Séjourné was responsible for the planning and construction of several railway lines. He made his reputation with innovative methods, and 1886 was decorated with the Légion d'honneur, with the citation 'has designed and built on several railway lines in planning or under construction long span bridges which should be considered as a basis for design'. Hubert Lyautey
Louis Hubert Gonzalve Lyautey (17 November 1854 – 27 July 1934) was a French Army general and colonial administrator. After serving in Indochina and Madagascar, he became the first French Resident-General in Morocco from 1912 to 1925. Early in 1917 he served briefly as Minister of War. From 1921 he was a Marshal of France. He was dubbed the ''French empire builder'', and in 1931 made the cover of ''Time''. Early life Lyautey was born in Nancy, capital of Lorraine. The Trans-Caspian Railway (also called the Central Asian Railway, russian: Среднеазиатская железная дорога) is a railway that follows the path of the Silk Road through much of western Central Asia. Canal De Brienne
The Canal de Brienne, also known as Canal de Saint-Pierre, is a French canal connecting the Garonne River with the Canal du Midi and the Canal de Garonne. It has two locks. The lock opening to the Garonne is known as Ecluse Saint-Pierre. The lock nearer to the Canal du Midi usually stands open. The canal is in the centre of Toulouse, in the Midi-Pyrénées region of France. It runs for only from its source at Bazacle on the Garonne to its terminal basin where it meets the Canal du Midi. At the joining with the Canal du Midi is the Ponts Jumeaux ( en, twin bridges). The canal was inaugurated on 14 April 1776.
