Paul Strasburger, Baron Strasburger
Paul Cline Strasburger, Baron Strasburger (born 31 July 1946) is a British Liberal Democrat politician, millionaire philanthropist and semi-retired businessman. Involvement with the Liberal Democrats Strasburger first became involved in the Liberal Democrats in his home town of Bath, Somerset in 2005. Strasburger's appointment to the House of Lords was announced in November 2010, and he was created a life Peer on 10 January 2011 as Baron Strasburger, ''of Langridge in the County of Somerset'', taking his seat on 12 January 2011. Strasburger is a major donor to the Liberal Democrats. Before his appointment to the Lords, he had donated £709,900.40 to the Liberal Democrats, including £483,625 to the central party, £170,719.29 to his local constituency in Bath, and smaller sums to Lib Dem MPs Menzies Campbell, Don Foster and Chris Huhne, as well as constituency parties in Wells, Eastleigh and North East Somerset, all between 2006 and 2010. ''The Right Honourable'' ( abbreviation: ''Rt Hon.'' or variations) is an honorific style traditionally applied to certain persons and collective bodies in the United Kingdom, the former British Empire and the Commonwealth of Nations. Chris Huhne
Christopher Murray Paul-Huhne (born 2 July 1954), known as Chris Huhne, is a British energy and climate change consultant and former journalist and politician who was the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Eastleigh from 2005 to 2013 and the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change from 2010 to 2012. From September 2013 to August 2014 he wrote a weekly column for ''The Guardian''. On 3 February 2012, Huhne resigned from the Cabinet when he was charged with perverting the course of justice over a 2003 speeding case. His wife at the time, Vicky Pryce, had claimed that she was driving the car, and accepted the licence penalty points on his behalf so that he could avoid being banned from driving. Jonathan Clive Marks, Baron Marks of Henley-on-Thames, (born 19 October 1952) is a British barrister and Liberal Democrat life peer in the House of Lords. Biography Marks was educated at Harrow School and University College, Oxford. He was called to the bar by Inner Temple in 1975. During the 1980s and early 1990s he was a visiting lecturer in advocacy at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, the University of Mauritius and Sri Lanka Law College. The Public Whip is a parliamentary informatics project that analyses and publishes the voting history of MPs in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was developed by Francis Irving and Julian Todd following the 18 March 2003 Parliamentary Approval for the invasion of Iraq as a tool to record which MPs had defied their party's whip long after the information had become effectively inaccessible for reference. On 1 August 2011 Irving and Todd handed control of the site to a new team. The project is loosely affiliated to mySociety's TheyWorkForYou with which it shares a large part of the same parliamentary parsing code-base. TheyWorkForYou is a parliamentary monitoring website operated by mySociety which aims to make it easier for UK citizens to understand what is going on in Westminster, as well as the Scottish Parliament, the Senedd and the Northern Ireland Assembly. Bail is a set of pre-trial restrictions that are imposed on a suspect to ensure that they will not hamper the judicial process. Bail is the conditional release of a defendant with the promise to appear in court when required. Michael Robert Alexander Brown (born 19 April 1966 in Glasgow) is a Scottish businessman and fugitive convicted in absentia of theft, perjury and perverting the course of justice.
