Paul Starling
Paul Noel Starling (born 1948) is an Australian martial artist renowned as a Gōjū-ryū Karate master. He was the most senior Caucasian student of Gōjū-ryū Gogen Yamaguchi, and is a world Vice President of the International Karate do Goju Kai Association (IKGA) Karate World Championships He was also the first Australian karateka to compete in a Karate World Championships and remain undefeated when in 1970 at the first Karate World Championships his team came up against undisputed favorites Japan at the inaugural event held in Tokyo Japan. Paul Starling was also the first graduate (1973) of Gogen Yamaguchi's Japan Karate do College, and the only Caucasian and Australian to graduate as a Shihan (Master). Australian Karate Federation
Australian Karate Federation is the governing body for the sport of Karate in Australia. Brief history Soon after the Australian Karate Federation was established in 1970, the National team represented Australia in the inaugural World Karate Championships staged in Japan the same year. After a humble start the Federation achieved a substantial number of members and kept growing with a membership of 123 affiliated styles. The Federation in its initial years was headed by Don Cameron MP as President. The Federation thrived under the leadership of Cameron, who initiated the first two National Teams and paving the way for further development of sport karate in Australia. His successor John Newman worked hard to uplift the Federation and further strengthened it. The Federation gained further impetus from subsequent Presidents like John Halpin (1993 – 2007), and Michael Kassis (2007). Motokatsu Inoue (1918-1993) was a Japanese martial artist, noted as the Grandmaster of Yui Shin Kai and Ryukyu Kobujutsu The first man to be awarded 'Hanshi' (Menkyo Kaiden) by Taira Shinken. Life and career Inoue was born in Tokyo, the son of a general and grandson of Katsura Taro, former prime minister of Japan. He began training in martial arts at an early age, taught by the security specialist at his family home, Soke Seiko Fujita (1898-1966), who was headmaster of Kōga-ryū Ninjutsu and considered the last true Ninja. Shito Ryu
Shito or shitor din (lit. 'black pepper') is a hot black pepper sauce ubiquitous in Ghanaian cuisine. The name comes from the Ga language. Shito sauce consists primarily of fish or vegetable oil, ginger, dried fish, prawns, crustaceans, tomatoes, garlic, peppers and spices. These ingredients are usually blended and cooked in vegetable or corn oil for a little over an hour to create the sauce. The blend of spices and fish differs between different regions and villages but owes its original recipe to the Ga tribe. In Ghana, shito is used with a variety of dishes. These include kenkey, steamed rice, garri and ''waakye'' (rice and beans) and banku. Indeed, its uses have been adapted to that of a local ketchup, hot sauce or chili oil.
