Paul Palmer (American Football)
Paul Woodrow Palmer (born October 14, 1964) is a former professional American football running back in the National Football League for the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the Barcelona Dragons in the World League of American Football. He played college football at Temple University. Early years Palmer attended Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland. He was a versatile running back and led the state in kickoff returns as a senior. Paul accepted a football scholarship from Temple University, to play under head coach Bruce Arians. As a freshman he was a backup that struggled with ball security. He registered 141 carries for 628 yards (4.5-yard average), 6 rushing touchdowns, 33 receptions for 271 yards and 2 touchdowns. Paul Palmer (died 1747) was the founder of several Baptist churches that became affiliated with the General Baptists. Palmer started several early Baptist churches in North Carolina, including the first known Baptist church in the state. He was an Arminian baptist and founder of the movement Free Will Baptist with Benjamin Randall. His home church was Delaware's Welsh Tract Baptist Church, which was Calvinist. Life Palmer's wife Joanna was the stepdaughter of Benjamin Laker, who emigrated to the Carolinas in the 1680s from England where he had been an associate of English General Baptist theologian Thomas Grantham, a signer of the 1663 General Baptists' Standard Confession of Faith. E. Paul Palmer (1926–2011) was a Brigham Young University physicist who specialized in geophysics. He coined the term "cold fusion". However he was an early critic of Fleischmann and Pons's claims to have developed a useful method of cold fusion. Palmer served in the US Navy during World War II. Paul Palmer (born 18 October 1974 in Lincoln, England) is a former international freestyle swimmer for England and Great Britain. Swimming career Coached by Ian Turner at the City of Lincoln Pentaqua Swimming Club, Palmer qualified for the 200 m, 400 m and 1500 m freestyle at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, finishing a respectable 9th position (winning the "B" final) in the 200 m, and 10th position in the 400 m. After this success, in order to increase his chances of a medal at the following Atlanta games, Palmer relocated to Bath, along with Turner. Training in a 50 m pool, alongside other Olympic hopefuls at the performance centre allowed Palmer to further increase his swimming skills. Palmer won the silver medal in the 400 m freestyle at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. The ''Paul Palmer'' was a five-masted schooner built in 1902 by George F. Welt in Waldoboro, Maine. It was part of William F. Palmer's fleet of white-hulled vessels active in the New England coal trade. The fleet was sold to J. S. Winslow and Company in 1911. After departing Rockport, Maine on Friday, June 13, 1913 under the command of Capt. Howard B. Allen and destined for Newport News, VA where she would pick up a load of coal for the return voyage, ''Paul Palmer'' caught fire on 15 June 1913 for unknown reasons. Attempts to douse the flames with the vessel's own pumps were not successful, and the crew abandoned ship. The ''Paul Palmer'' burned down to the waterline and then sank. There were 11 passengers and crew on board, including the captain's wife and a female guest. The passengers of the Palmer took to lifeboats and were picked up later on by the fishing schooner ''Rose Dorothea'', bringing them to Provincetown, Massachusetts.
