	Paul Newton (artist) Paul Newton (born 1961) is an Australian artist. He has won the Archibald Prize Packing Room Prize twice: in 1996 with a portrait of radio announcer John Laws CBE; and, again in 2001 (along with the People's Choice award) with a portrait of characters Roy Slaven and HG Nelson. He has works in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, and is a portrait artist for Parliament House, Canberra. He has painted Prime Ministers and Governor General Sir William Deane AC, KBE. Other portraits by Newton have been Archibald Prize finalists including paintings of model Kate Fischer in 1997, model Maggie Tabberer AM in 1999, and rugby player David Campese AM in 2000 (which was acquired by the National Portrait Gallery). 	Paul Newton (musician) Paul Newton (born 21 February 1948, Andover, Hampshire, England) is an English rock musician. He was bassist with progressive group Shinn, which featured organist Don Shinn and drummer Brian "Blinky" Davison, and then joined a reformed line-up of The Gods with Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake. He was the original bass guitarist for Uriah Heep and played on the band's first three albums. He subsequently played for a band called Festival for several years on the Mecca Palais circuit and also worked as a studio musician and appeared on various recordings. More recently he has performed with other ex-members of Uriah Heep (Ken Hensley, John Lawton and Lee Kerslake) in Uriah Heep Legends. 	Paul Raymond Newton Lieutenant General Sir Paul Raymond Newton is a former British Army officer and Director of Exeter University's Strategy and Security Institute. Prior to leaving the army he was Commander Force Development and Training. Military career Educated at Sandhurst and later at Cambridge University, Newton was commissioned into the Royal Hampshire Regiment in 1975. He earned promotion to lieutenant two years later. He was promoted to the rank of captain in the Royal Hampshire Regiment in 1981 and to major in 1988 seeing service as a company commander.
