Paul Monaghan (politician)
Paul William Monaghan (born 11 November 1965) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross from the 2015 general election until 2017, when he lost his seat to Jamie Stone of the Liberal Democrats. Before beginning his political career, he gained a PhD in social policy then worked in various planning and management positions. Early life and career Monaghan was born in Montrose, before moving to Inverness at the age of two with his family. He was educated at Inverness Royal Academy and at the University of Stirling, where he gained a first class honours degree in Psychology and Sociology and a PhD in Social Policy. He is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) (Welsh: ''Heddlu Sifil Niwclear'') is a special police force responsible for providing law enforcement and security at any relevant nuclear site and for security of nuclear materials in transit within the United Kingdom. The force has over 1,500 police officers and support staff. Officers within the force are authorised firearms officers, due to the nature of the industry the force protects. The League Against Cruel Sports, formerly known as the League for the Prohibition of Cruel Sports, is a UK-based animal welfare charity which campaigns to stop blood sports such as fox hunting, hare and deer hunting; game bird shooting; and animal fighting. North Highland College provides further education and higher education in the north of Scotland through a network of learning centres and by distance learning. The Northern Constabulary ( gd, Poileas a' Chinn a Tuath) was the territorial police force responsible for Northern Scotland, covering the Highland council area along with the Western Isles, the Orkney Islands and the Shetland Islands, which make up most of the Highlands and Islands area.
