Paul Mitchell (American Football)
Paul Anthony Mitchell (August 10, 1920 – March 11, 2017) was an American football defensive end and tackle who played two seasons with the New York Yanks of the National Football League (NFL) and two seasons with the Los Angeles Dons of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) and won a National Championship with the Minnesota Gophers in 1941. Mitchell's parents had immigrated from Lithuania and Paul learned to speak English at school. Paul Graham Frederick Mitchell, OAM (born 24 October 1970 in England) is a Paralympic athlete with an intellectual disability from Western Australia, Australia. Athletics career At the 1992 Paralympic Games for Persons with Mental Handicap in Madrid, Spain, he won a silver medal in the Men's 1500 m. Paul Michael Mitchell Jr. (born August 19, 1949) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played from 1975 to 1980 for the Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners and Milwaukee Brewers. Amateur career Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Mitchell graduated from Worcester Academy in 1968 and was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 18th round of the 1968 MLB draft. Rather than turn professional, he opted to attend Old Dominion University on a baseball scholarship. From 1969-71 he played collegiate summer baseball in the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) for the Falmouth Commodores, leading Falmouth to the league championship in all three years and being named the league's outstanding pitcher in 1969 and 1970. Paul Mitchell (born 18 December 1968 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish football commentator for BBC Scotland and was their main commentator for a six-year period from 2004 to 2010. His past co-commentators include Pat Nevin and Ian McCall – Mitchell is currently joined by either Craig Paterson or Billy Dodds when commentating on live matches for BBC Scotland's Sportscene programme. Paul Alexander Mitchell (born 26 August 1981) is an English football scout and former professional player. As a player, Mitchell began playing with the youth teams of Manchester City and Wigan Athletic, making his senior debut with the latter. He also played for Halifax Town, Swindon Town and Milton Keynes Dons on loan, whom he later joined permanently. Mitchell also had loan spells with Wrexham and Barnet before injuries forced an early retirement at the age of 27. Paul Mitchel (born Cyril Thomson Mitchell; January 27, 1936 – April 21, 1989) was a Scottish American hairstylist and co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems, a company that sells hair care products and, since 2000, also runs hairdressing schools. Early life Paul Mitchell was born in Carnwath in Scotland. His mother Jenny was the village's first hairdresser. His family moved to London in 1939. He trained as a silversmith before enrolling in the Morris School of Hairdressing at age sixteen. By eighteen he had won multiple hairdressing competitions. Career After graduating he worked as a hairdresser in London salons, moving to Vidal Sassoon's in Bond Street in the early 1960s. In 1965, Sassoon sent him to New York City to train staff at his first location in the United States.
