Paul Melotik
Paul D. Melotik (born February 27, 1957) is an American accountant, businessman, and Republican politician from Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. He is a member-elect of the Wisconsin State Assembly, having won a special election in the 24th Assembly district on July 18, 2023. Melotik also serves on the Ozaukee County board of supervisors, representing most of the town of Grafton, and is a member of the Grafton town board. Life and career Melotik was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis, Wisconsin. He went on to attend Carroll University, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and business management in 1979. He worked for several years as an accountant for Wisconsin Electric and then went into the bar and restaurant business. Wisconsin's 24th Assembly District
The 24th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district comprises parts of southern Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, Ozaukee County, southeast Washington County, Wisconsin, Washington County, and northeast Waukesha County, Wisconsin, Waukesha County. It includes the villages of Germantown, Wisconsin, Germantown and Grafton, Wisconsin, Grafton, as well as a significant portion of the villages of Mequon, Wisconsin, Mequon and Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Menomonee Falls. Wisconsin Elections Commission
The Wisconsin Elections Commission is a bipartisan regulatory agency of the State of Wisconsin established to administer and enforce election laws in the state. The Wisconsin Elections Commission was established by a 2015 act of the Wisconsin Legislature which also established the Wisconsin Ethics Commission to administer campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying laws. The two commissions began operation on June 30, 2016, replacing the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB), which was abolished. The Government Accountability Board had been established in 2008 to replace the Wisconsin Elections Board and Wisconsin Ethics Board. The 2023 Wisconsin Spring Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on April 4, 2023. The featured race at the top of the ticket was for an open seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which became the most expensive judicial election in history. Wisconsin Senate
The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. Currently, Wisconsin is divided into 33 Senate Districts (1/3 of the current Assembly membership of 99) apportioned throughout the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 33 senators.
