Paul Manning (journalist)
Paul Manning (died 1995) was an American broadcast journalist. He worked closely with Edward R. Murrow during World War II as a correspondent for CBS Radio, and with the Mutual Broadcasting System later on in the war. Biography The Writing 69th Manning flew at least one mission with the Eighth Air Force on Oct. 9, 1943. In February 1943, eight American civilian and military journalists participated in a training program with the United States Eighth Air Force. The goal of the program was to prepare the men for high altitude bombing runs over Germany. In a week-long training course over the skies of Bovingdon, England the men learned how to adjust to high altitude, identify enemy planes, and parachute. They were trained how to shoot weapons as well, despite the rule against non-combatant firing weapons in combat. Paul Andrew Manning (born 29 May 1947) is a retired British police officer. Manning was the son of Owen Manning and his wife Joyce Cynthia (née Murgatroyd).Biography, ''Who's Who'' He was educated at Forest of Needwood High School in Rolleston on Dove, Staffordshire, and joined the Metropolitan Police in London as a cadet in 1964. He became a constable in 1966 and rose through the ranks before transferring to Staffordshire Police as a chief superintendent in 1985. He transferred to Avon and Somerset Constabulary as an assistant chief constable in 1988 and was appointed deputy chief constable of Hertfordshire Constabulary in 1992. On 3 October 1994, he returned to the Metropolitan Police as assistant commissioner and took command of Area No. 5 (South-West Area) following the reorganisation which saw expansion from four to six assistant commissioners, all but one placed in charge of one of the five operational areas. Paul Manning (born September 21, 1973), also known by the pseudonyms Paul Wright and the Englishman, is a former Hamilton Police Service officer (Ontario, Canada), Metropolitan Police Service officer (London, UK) and Royal Military Police officer (UK) who worked undercover in an Ontario Provincial Police and Hamilton Police Service joint task force for 18 months, successfully infiltrating the Musitano crime family, Papalia crime family and the Hamilton chapter of Hells Angels. Manning alleges he was sold out by other serving officers affiliated with organized criminals while working undercover and that an attempt was made on his life by members of the Front Lines Bloods. Paul Christian Manning, (born 6 November 1974, Sutton Coldfield) is a former English professional track and road bicycle racer who rode for the UCI Professional Continental team Landbouwkrediet-Tönissteiner in 2007 and 2008. He is strong in the Individual and Team Pursuit disciplines on track and has won many medals for Britain in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Track World Championships and Track World Cups. He was the British national individual pursuit champion in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005. He was also the national points race champion in 2005. On 17 August 2008, Manning was a member of the Olympic team pursuit squad which broke the world record in the heats with a time of 3:55:202, beating their Russian opponents comfortably to go through to the final ride-off for silver and gold. Paul Manning (born April 15, 1979) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman. He played eight National Hockey League (NHL) games with the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2002–03 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 2001 to 2012, was mainly spent with the Hannover Scorpions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
