Paul Juda
Paul Wojciech Juda (born July 7, 2001) is an American artistic gymnast. He is currently competing for the Michigan Wolverines in NCAA gymnastics and is a member of the U.S. men's national team. Personal life Juda was born in Deerfield, Illinois to Ewa Bacher and Jozef Juda. He attended Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Gymnastics career Junior 2016–17 Juda competed at the 2016 Junior Olympic National Championships, where he won gold on floor exercise, and silver on parallel bars and high bar. In May 2017, he competed at the 2017 Junior Olympic National Championships where he won gold in the all-around. Pommel Horse
The pommel horse is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. Traditionally, it is used by only male gymnasts. Originally made of a metal frame with a wooden body and a leather cover, the modern pommel horse has a metal body covered with foam rubber and leather, with plastic handles (or pommels). Apparatus History The apparatus originates from the Romans, who used wooden horses to teach mounting and dismounting. They later added it to the ancient Olympic Games. Gymnastics Floor
In gymnastics, the floor is a specially prepared exercise surface, which is considered an apparatus. It is used by both male and female gymnasts. The gymnastics event performed on the floor is called floor exercise. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is FX. A spring floor is used in all of gymnastics to provide more bounce, and also help prevent potential injuries to lower extremity joints of gymnasts due to the nature of the apparatus, which includes the repeated pounding required to train it. Cheerleading also uses spring floors for practice. The sprung floor used for indoor athletics, however, is designed to reduce bounce. Sam Mikulak
Samuel Anthony Mikulak (born October 13, 1992) is a retired American artistic gymnast. He is a six-time U.S. national all-around champion (2013–2016, 2018–2019), the 2018 World bronze medalist on high bar, and a three-time Olympian (2012, 2016, and 2020). He is also an eight-time NCAA champion, winning the team, individual all-around and several individual event titles at the 2011, 2013 and 2014 NCAA Men's Gymnastics championships. Early years Mikulak was born in Huntington Beach, California, and attended Corona del Mar High School. He is of Polish descent. His parents both competed in gymnastics at the University of California, Berkeley, and started Sam in gymnastics at age two. The 2021 Winter Cup was an artistic gymnastics competition held at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. In past iterations it was only for Men's Artistic Gymnastics, however, this competition was the first time that Women's Artistic Gymnastics were included. 2020 Friendship And Solidarity Competition
The 2020 Friendship and Solidarity Competition was an artistic gymnastics competition hosted by the International Gymnastics Federation and held in Tokyo, Japan on November 8, 2020. The competition implemented strict COVID-19 safety protocols that could serve as a foundation for holding the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games slated to begin July 23, 2021. Background After the COVID-19 pandemic caused the mass majority of competitions in 2020 to be canceled and the 2020 Summer Olympics to be postponed until 2021, the FIG organized this event as a showcase of international camaraderie "at a time when unity has never seemed more important". The Michigan Daily
''The Michigan Daily'' is the weekly student newspaper of the University of Michigan. Its first edition was published on September 29, 1890. The newspaper is financially and editorially independent of the University's administration and other student groups, but shares a university building with other student publications on 420 Maynard Street, north of the Michigan Union and Huetwell Student Activities Center. In 2007, renovations to the historic building at 420 Maynard were completed, funded entirely by private donations from alumni.
