Paul Hunter (1978–2006) was an English snooker player. Paul Hunter
Paul Alan Hunter (14 October 1978 – 9 October 2006) was an English professional snooker player. He was a three-time Masters champion, winning the event in 2001, 2002, and 2004, recovering from a deficit in the final to win 10–9 on all three occasions. He also won three ranking events: the Welsh Open in 1998 and 2002, and the British Open in 2002. During the 2004–05 snooker season, he attained a career-high ranking of number four in the world. In March 2005, Hunter was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumours, but continued to play for several months afterwards. He died shortly before his 28th birthday in October 2006. In his memory, a tournament in Fürth, Germany, was renamed the Paul Hunter Classic and, in April 2016, the Masters trophy was renamed the Paul Hunter Trophy. Paul Hunter (born January 18, 1956) is a Canadian-born retired soccer player. He played for the University of Connecticut Huskies and spent five seasons in the North American Soccer League. His position was defender. High school and college While born in Canada, Hunter and his brother Tim grew up in Westport, Connecticut where he attended Staples High School. Staples won the 1971 Connecticut state championship Hunter's junior year. While the team repeated as champions in 1972, Hunter shattered his leg mid-season, putting him out for the rest of the year. He then attended the University of Connecticut, playing on the men's soccer team from 1974 to 1976. He was selected as an honourable mention (third team) All American in 1975 and a first team All American his senior season. He was also team captain that season. Paul Hunter (born 9 February 1993) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who for played the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Hunter was raised in Redhead in New South Wales, near Newcastle. Hunter began playing football for Warners Bay Football club. In 2013, Hunter moved to Queensland to play with Redland in south east Brisbane who competed in the NEAFL.
