Paul Holloway
Paul Holloway (born 20 August 1949) is an Australian politician who represented the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party in the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Mitchell from 1989 to 1993, and in the South Australian Legislative Council from 1995 to 2011. Early life Holloway was an Electorate Research Officer, and holds BSc, BEc, BE (Hons) qualifications from the University of Adelaide. Politics Holloway served in the Rann Labor cabinet including such positions as Attorney-General of South Australia, Minister for Mineral Resources Development, Minister for Urban Development and Planning, and Minister for Small Business. He was aligned with Labor's Right faction. As Minister for Resources Development, Holloway oversaw a rapid expansion in the mining sector in South Australia. Carrapateena
The Carrapateena mine is a large copper mine under development in South Australia's Far North region 100 km southeast of Olympic Dam and approximately 160km north of Port Augusta. Carrapateena represents one of the largest copper reserves in Australia and in the world having estimated reserves of 292 million tonnes of ore grading 1.31% copper and 3.64 million oz of gold. It was discovered by explorer and metallurgist Rudie Gomez in 2005. The project was acquired by OZ Minerals in 2011, and the project was referred to the EPBC Act for Federal environmental approval in 2012. Construction of the decline to access the mine commenced in 2016. The mining technique used to extract the ore is sub-level caving. The Tjati decline was officially opened in November 2016. The Minerals and Energy Advisory Council is an entity which represents the interests of resources and energy companies to the Government of South Australia. It was formed in 2015 in a merger of the Resources Industry Development Board and the Resources & Energy Sector Infrastructure Council. The Resources Industry Development Board (RIDB) was formed in 2000 to enhance the growth of the state of South Australia's mineral and petroleum resources sector and its contribution to the state's economy. It was formed in response to recommendations of the Resources Task Force made the previous year. The RIDB provided advice to the Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy and the state government. Gerard Anthony (Gerry) Kandelaars is an Australian politician. He was appointed to the South Australian Legislative Council for the Australian Labor Party (South Australian Branch), South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party on 13 September 2011 to replace outgoing member Paul Holloway.
