Paul Harvey Jr.
Paul Harvey Aurandt Jr. (born 1948 or 1949), is an American pianist, radio broadcaster and a former host of ''News and Comment'' on Citadel Media, ABC Radio Networks. He is the only child of Paul Harvey and his wife Lynne Cooper Harvey, Lynne. Harvey's version of the show was significantly different in that it was evergreen (journalism), not time sensitive, taped in advance (as opposed to the same-day recordings his father performed), and focused on non-current topics such as "scientific developments, medicine, unusual phenomena and other stories that are not directly connected to the day's news", and often contained "no time-sensitive or topical material". As a result, several stations either moved the program to less prominent time slots or dropped it outright. Cumulus Media Networks was an American radio network owned and operated by Cumulus Media. From 2011 until its merger with Westwood One, it controlled many of the radio assets formerly belonging to the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), which was broken up in 2007; Cumulus owned the portion of the network that was purchased by Citadel Broadcasting that year. The network adopted its final name in September 2011, following Cumulus's acquisition of Citadel; prior to this, it had been known as Citadel Media Networks since April 2009, after licensing the "ABC Radio Networks" name from The Walt Disney Company for nearly two years. Paul Harvey Aurandt (September 4, 1918 – February 28, 2009) was an American radio broadcaster for ABC News Radio. He broadcast ''News and Comment'' on mornings and mid-days on weekdays and at noon on Saturdays and also his famous ''The Rest of the Story'' segments. From 1951 to 2008, his programs reached as many as 24 million people per week. ''Paul Harvey News'' was carried on 1,200 radio stations, on 400 American Forces Network stations, and in 300 newspapers. Early life Harvey was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was the son of a policeman who was killed by robbers in 1921. He made radio receivers as a young boy, and attended Central High School (Tulsa, Oklahoma), Tulsa Central High School, where he was two years ahead of future actor Tony Randall. Lynne Cooper Harvey
Lynne "Angel" (''née'' Cooper) Harvey (October 4, 1916 – May 3, 2008) was the radio producer for ''The Rest of the Story'', and the first producer to enter the National Radio Hall of Fame. Dubbed the "First Lady of Radio," Harvey's sixty-year career in radio transformed American radio and television news format. Early life and career Harvey was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA and MA in English. Harvey was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Washington University and was a former schoolteacher. In 1939, she went to work for KXOK. There she met her future husband Paul Harvey. Paul Harvey invited her to dinner, proposed to her after a few minutes of conversation and from then on called her "Angel," even on his radio show. Evergreen (journalism)
Within the context of journalism and broadcasting, evergreen content is content that is not time-sensitive. Evergreen content does not rely on current events; thus, an evergreen story can be prepared, then mothballed until it is needed to fill time on a slower news day or on a holiday when fewer journalists are on duty. The term is derived from evergreen trees. An evergreen news magazine has more flexibility in production, not having to be produced on a set time frame; instead of producing a new newscast every day or week, a show consisting of evergreen content can produce several episodes at once and release them in sequence. In contrast, such content is not as responsive to breaking developments. Feature stories and human interest stories are usually evergreen. KTBB (600 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Tyler, Texas, and serving the Tyler- Longview area. It carries a news/talk radio format and is owned by Paul Gleiser, through licensee ATW Media, LLC. All programming is simulcast on sister station KTBB-FM 97.5 MHz in Troup, Texas. ''The Rest of the Story'' was a Monday-through-Friday radio program originally hosted by Paul Harvey. Beginning as a part of his newscasts during the Second World War and then premiering as its own series on the ABC Radio Networks on May 10, 1976, ''The Rest of the Story'' consisted of stories presented as little-known or forgotten facts on a variety of subjects with some key element of the story (usually the name of some well-known person) held back until the end. The broadcasts always concluded with a variation on the tag line, "And now you know...the ''rest'' of the story." On the majority of radio stations, it often served as a mid-afternoon drive counterpart to Harvey's noontime ''News and Comment''. From its inception, the scripts for the series had been drafted and the broadcasts produced by Harvey's son Paul Harvey Jr., who in later years of his father's career also acted as a substitute host. The Radio Hall of Fame, formerly the National Radio Hall of Fame, is an American organization created by the Emerson Radio Corporation in 1988. Gil Gross is an American radio personality. He most recently hosted a weekday radio talkshow on KKSF Talk 910 in Oakland/San Francisco from 10am to 2pm, as well as the syndicated Real Estate Today program on Saturdays. However, that station flipped formats to Spanish language sports on July 23, 2016. He was a news correspondent for the ABC Radio Networks. From 2007 to late 2011 he hosted a show on KGO AM in San Francisco, California, on weekday afternoons. He replaced the San Francisco newscaster Pete Wilson (not to be confused with the California governor of the same name) after his death in 2007 as host of the radio show on KGO.
