Paul Haghedooren (11 October 1959 – 9 November 1997) was a Belgian cyclist. He rode in five editions of the Tour de France and two editions of the Vuelta a España. Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne is an annual single-day road cycling race in Belgium. It is held one day after Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, on the last Sunday of February or the first of March, and completes the opening weekend of the Belgian cycling season. It is ranked a 1.HC event of the UCI Europe Tour. Tom Boonen holds the most wins with three victories. History Early editions First held in 1946, the race was run from Kuurne, a small town known for its textile industry, to the Belgian capital of Brussels and back. In the 1950s it served as the opening race of the Belgian cycling season. When Brussels was becoming inaccessible for a cycling event in the late 1960s, the race was rerouted towards the Flemish Ardennes and renamed "Omloop der beide Vlaanderen" ''("Circuit of both Flanders")''. Grand Prix Raymond Impanis
The GP Impanis-Van Petegem (also known as the Primus Classic) is a single-day road bicycle race held annually since 1982 in the region of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The race was originally organized as a tribute to Raymond Impanis in and around Kampenhout and known as the GP Impanis. Between 1995 and 2004, the race was no longer organized, only to be reinstated in 2005 as a race only for juniors (under 21). In 2011, the race was again organised for professional cyclists and upgraded to a 1.2 event on the UCI Europe Tour. It was also renamed to GP Impanis-Van Petegem in honor of Peter Van Petegem. Since then, the race has started near Brakel, the birthplace of Van Petegem, and has finished close to Kampenhout, namely in Haacht. Grand Prix Eddy Merckx was a cycle race around Brussels, where Eddy Merckx was born. It was held between 1980 and 2004, disappearing after the creation of the UCI ProTour in 2005. Le Samyn is an annual single-day road bicycle race in Belgium, held usually in late February or early March. The event was created in 1968 as ''Grand Prix de Fayt-le-Franc'', named after the former municipality where it started and finished. In 1970 it was renamed ''Grand Prix José Samyn'' as a tribute to José Samyn, the race's first winner who died in a race accident in 1969. Johan Capiot holds the record with three wins.
