Paul H. Alling
Paul Humiston Alling (July 15, 1896 – January 18, 1949) was an American diplomat. Early life Alling was born in Hamden, Connecticut and attended Trinity College before earning a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army from 1917 to 1919, then returned home to work for the National City Bank of New York and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Diplomatic career Alling joined the Foreign Service in 1924, and was posted to Beirut, Aleppo, and Damascus. He was nominated as the Consul General of the U.S. Legation at Tangier, Morocco on June 4, 1945. Hamden is a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The town's nickname is "The Land of the Sleeping Giant". The population was 61,169 at the 2020 census. History The peaceful tribe of Quinnipiacs were the first residents of the land that is now Hamden, they had great regard awe and veneration for the Blue Hills Sleeping Giant Mountain. amden was purchased by William Christopher Reilly and the Reverend John Davenport in 1638 from the local Quinnipiac Native American tribe. It was settled by Puritans as part of the town of New Haven. In 1912 Morocco came under the control of France and Spain as protectorates. The United States did not initially recognize the French and Spanish protectorates over Morocco. The United States ambassador to Syria is the official representative of the president of the United States to the president of Syria.
