Paul Grigson
Paul Grigson is an Australian diplomat and public servant. He is currently the deputy secretary of Infrastructure, Transport Security and Customs Group and the deputy comptroller-general of customs. He has served as the Australian ambassador to Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar. Early life Grigson graduated with a B.A. from the University of Queensland, where he studied psychology and journalism. He also holds a B.Litt from Australian National University and a graduate diploma in applied finance from the Securities Institute of Australia (today FINSIA). Career Grigson was a journalist at the Australian Associated Press. In 1991, Grigson became a Media Liaison Officer at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and was appointed as adviser the following year before taking up a position as director of the Parliamentary Liaison and Freedom of Information Section, which he held until 1993. Australian Ambassador To Indonesia
The Ambassador of Australia to Indonesia is an officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the head of the Embassy of the Commonwealth of Australia to the Republic of Indonesia. The position has the rank and status of an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and the Embassy in Jakarta is Australia's largest embassy and one of Australia's most important overseas posts. Peace Monitoring Group
The Peace Monitoring Group (PMG) on Bougainville in Papua New Guinea was brought about by the civil unrest on the island in 1989. The PNG government requested the Australian and New Zealand governments to provide a monitoring group to oversee the cease fire on the island. This group was made up of both civilian and defence personnel from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Vanuatu. Both sides of the conflict welcomed the group being on Bougainville. This support remained strong throughout the PMG's deployment. The PMG played a role in facilitating the peace process on 30 April 1998 and took over from the New Zealand Truce Monitoring Group which then departed. The Bougainville Peace Agreement decreed that all personnel should be withdrawn from the island by December 2002. Myuran Sukumaran
Myuran Sukumaran (17 April 1981 – 29 April 2015) was an Australian who was convicted in Indonesia of drug trafficking as a member of the Bali Nine. In 2005, Sukumaran was arrested in a room at the Melasti Hotel in Kuta with eight others. Police found of heroin in a suitcase in the room. According to court testimonies of convicted drug mules, Sukumaran and Andrew Chan were the co-ringleaders of the heroin-smuggling operation from Indonesia to Australia. After a criminal trial, Sukumaran was sentenced on 14 February 2006 by the Denpasar District Court to execution by firing squad. After lodging an appeal against his sentence, Sukumaran's appeal was initially dismissed by the Bali High Court. Andrew Chan
Andrew Chan (; 12 January 1984 – 29 April 2015) was an Australian man who was convicted and executed in Indonesia for illegal drug trade, drug trafficking as a member of the Bali Nine. In 2005, Chan was arrested at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar. According to court testimonies of convicted mule (smuggling), drug mules, Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were the co-ringleaders of the heroin smuggling operation from Indonesia to Australia. After a criminal trial on February 14, 2006, Chan was sentenced to execution by firing squad by the Denpasar Court system of Indonesia#Public Courts, District Court.
