Paul Gregory (producer)
Paul Gregory (August 27, 1920 – December 25, 2015) was an American film, theatre and television producer. Early life Gregory was the son of a butcher and graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1938. Career Gregory went to Hollywood where he worked as a personal assistant for clients like Horace Heidt and Carmen Cavallaro. He became friends with actor Charles Laughton and organized a successful lecture tour which Laughton made through the United States between 1949 and 1950. They earned $200,000 during this reading tour; the money worked as the basis for other projects. Gregory afterwards produced 17 Broadway plays during the 1950s and 1960s, among them ''The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial'', '' 3 for Tonight'', ''The Marriage Go-Around'' and ''Lord Pengo''. Waukee is a city in Dallas County, Iowa, United States. The population was 23,940 at the time of the 2020 U.S. Census. It is part of the Des Moines РWest Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2017, Apple Inc. chose Waukee as the location of a massive $1.38 billion data center campus. History Waukee was laid out as a town in 1869. ''Front Row Center'' is an American variety show that aired on the DuMont Television Network Sundays at 7pm ET from March 25, 1949, to April 2, 1950. The show was originally 30 minutes then expanded to 60 minutes. This was one of several DuMont network programs to start as a local show on one of its affiliates. The premiere episode featured Marilyn Maxwell in her TV debut. On April 9, 1950, DuMont replaced this show with ''Starlit Time'' in the same time slot. ''Biography'' is an American documentary television series and media franchise created in the 1960s by David L. Wolper and owned by A&E Networks since 1987. Each episode depicts the life of a notable person with narration, on-camera interviews, photographs, and stock footage. The show originally ran in syndication in 1962–1964, and in 1979, on A&E from 1987 to 2006, and on The Biography Channel (later Bio, now FYI) from 2006 to 2012. ''Moving Pictures'' is a television series devoted to film that aired on BBC 2 from 1991 to 1996. It was presented by ''Rock Follies'' screenwriter Howard Schuman. Each program was composed of several short films on different cinematic subjects and not necessarily on current releases. Although it never achieved high ratings, ''Moving Pictures'' was frequently used to teach film studies. Interviewed on the set of ''Pulp Fiction'', Quentin Tarantino told John Travolta it was the best show about movies on television.
