Paul Glynn
Paul Glynn (1928) is a Marist missionary priest and writer from Australia. He is the author of several books, including ''The Song of Nagasaki'' (1988) and ''The Smile of the Ragpicker'' (1992), both best-sellers and translated into several languages. He has devoted a lifetime to reconciliation and friendship between Australia and Japan, the two former wartime enemies. Biography Paul Glynn is an Australian Marist missionary priest and writer. He graduated from Southern Cross University; in 2010 the school awarded him an honorary doctorate for his reconciliation work with Japan. He lived in Japan for over 20 years, learning the country's language and culture through Buddhist texts. There he wrote ''A Song for Nagasaki'', a book recounting the life of Takashi Nagai, a radiologist who converted to Catholicism and survived the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaski. Tony Glynn
Tony Glynn (1926–1994) was an Australia, Australian missionary priest in Japan whose work for postwar reconciliation between former enemies earned him imperial and national honors from both countries. Early life Anthony Joachim "Tony" Glynn was born in Casino, New South Wales, Casino, in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales in 1926. He was one of eight children of Harold Marcus Glynn, a successful store owner, and Nina Rose Glynn (née Dougherty). Following the death of his mother, when he was six, her younger sister Molly stepped in to help raise the children. Tony was attending boarding school in Sydney at St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill when the British colony of Singapore fell to the Imperial Japanese Army in 1942. The Society of Mary ( la, Societas Mariae) abbreviated SM, commonly known as the Marist Fathers, is a men's Roman Catholic clerical religious congregation of pontifical right. It was founded by Jean-Claude Colin and a group of seminarians in Lyon, France, in 1816.
