Paul Filing
Paul Anthony Filing (born 20 December 1955) is an Australian former politician. Born in Wegberg, Germany, he was a police officer and company manager in Australia before entering politics. From 1987 to 1989, he was Campaign Co-ordinator for the Liberal Party in Western Australia. In 1990, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Liberal member for Moore, defeating sitting Labor member Allen Blanchard. He served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition, John Hewson and Opposition Deputy Whip. In April 1995, he was defeated for Liberal preselection to contest Moore at the next election, as part of "a bitter power struggle in the WA branch involving Senator Noel Crichton-Browne". He resigned from the party on 18 June 1995 to become an independent, although he stated he would continue to vote with the Coalition. The Division of Moore is an Australian electoral division in the state of Western Australia. History The Division was named after George Fletcher Moore, the first Advocate-General of Western Australia, and is at present a safe Liberal seat held by Ian Goodenough since the 2013 federal election, having changed significantly throughout its history in both geographical area and in political character. Due to significant demographic change, the seat's boundaries and constituency has evolved considerably since it was proclaimed at the 11 May 1949 redistribution. At that time, it was basically a rural electorate, which included parts of the Wheatbelt along the Indian Ocean coast to the north and east of Perth, the state capital — a similar region to that presently covered by the state seat of Moore. Joondalup
Joondalup () is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, approximately north of Perth's central business district. It contains the central business district of the regional City of Joondalup and acts as the primary urban centre of Perth's outer northern suburbs. History During the latter part of the 1960s, the '' Metropolitan Regional Planning Authority'' developed the '' Corridor Plan for Perth'' which was published and adopted in 1970. The plan called for the creation of five "sub-regional" retail centres (Fremantle, Joondalup, Midland, Armadale and Rockingham) which would form the commercial and economic focus of each "node", and take the retail burden away from the CBD. Kevin Andrews (politician)
Kevin James Andrews (born 9 November 1955) is a former Australian politician and member of the Liberal Party of Australia. He was the Member of House of Representatives for the seat of Menzies from a by-election in 1991 until the 2022 Australian federal election. Andrews is a conservative and a Catholic. Previously, Andrews served in the Howard Government as the Minister for Ageing, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, and then the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship until the 2007 election, at which his party lost government. Following the 2009 Liberal leadership ballot, Andrews served in the Shadow Cabinet of Tony Abbott as shadow minister for Families, Housing and Human Services until the 2013 election where his party won government. Ken Aldred
Kenneth James Aldred (1 August 194517 April 2016) was an Australian politician who represented the Liberal Party in the Australian House of Representatives between 1975 and 1980 and again from 1983 to 1996. Early life Aldred was born in East Melbourne, Victoria, on 1 August 1945. He was educated at Melbourne High School and Monash University, and held the degrees of Bachelor of Economics and Master of Administration from Monash University. During 1970–71 he was Special Projects Officer in the Commonwealth Public Service Board in Melbourne. This was followed by two years in the period 1971–73, as Management Training Officer at the Administrative College of Papua New Guinea. Though principally based in Port Moresby, Aldred also had responsibility for running management courses in several of PNG's major regional centres. The 2022 Australian federal election was held on Saturday 21 May 2022 to elect members of the 47th Parliament of Australia. The incumbent Liberal/National Coalition government, led by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, sought to win a fourth consecutive term in office but was defeated by the opposition, the Labor Party, led by Anthony Albanese. Kalamunda, Western Australia
Kalamunda ( nys, Karlamarda) is a town and eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located in the Darling Scarp at the eastern limits of the Perth metropolitan area. History Indigenous Noongar people were the first inhabitants of the area. The first permanent European settlers were the family of Frederick and Elizabeth Stirk, who arrived in 1881 and established a property called Headingly Hill at what is now Stirk Park; their house, Stirk Cottage, is now a museum. More settlers moved in during the 1890s, aided by the advent of the Kalamunda Zig Zag railway. At this time the Kalamunda area was known as "Gooseberry Hill". Gosnells is a suburb located within the City of Gosnells. Gosnells is approximately south-east of the Perth central business district. It contains the Gosnells town centre which includes the Council offices, library and the Gosnells Railway Station.
