Paul Edwards (footballer, Born 1963)
Paul Edwards (born 25 December 1963) is an English former professional footballer who played as a left back. Active in the Football League between 1988 and 1996 for five different clubs, Edwards made over 200 career appearances. Career Born in Birkenhead, Edwards began his career in non-League football with Altrincham, before playing in the Football League with Crewe Alexandra, Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion and Bury. Edwards then returned to non-League football with Hednesford Town. Following his time at Crewe—where he played 108 games, scoring seven goals—he was named in the 1989-1990 Third Division PFA Team of the Year, the first Crewe player to feature in the awards. In March 1990, he was sold to Coventry City for £350,000. Birkenhead
Birkenhead (; cy, Penbedw) is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, England; historically, it was part of Cheshire until 1974. The town is on the Wirral Peninsula, along the south bank of the River Mersey, opposite Liverpool. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 88,818. Birkenhead Priory and the Mersey Ferry were established in the 12th century. In the 19th century, Birkenhead expanded greatly as a consequence of the Industrial Revolution. Birkenhead Park and Hamilton Square were laid out as well as the first street tramway in Britain. The Mersey Railway connected Birkenhead and Liverpool with the world's first tunnel beneath a tidal estuary; the shipbuilding firm Cammell Laird and a seaport were established. In the second half of the 20th century, the town suffered a significant period of decline, with containerisation causing a reduction in port activity. The Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League. The 1989– 90 season was the 91st completed season of The Football League. Liverpool overhauled a greatly improved Aston Villa side to win their 18th league championship trophy and their fifth major trophy in as many seasons under Kenny Dalglish's management. Gary Lineker's arrival at Tottenham Hotspur saw the North Londoners occupy third place after a season of improvement. Hednesford (pronounced ) is a historic market town in the Cannock Chase district of Staffordshire, England. Cannock Chase is to the north, the town of Cannock to the south and Rugeley to the southwest.The population at the 2011 census was 17,343.
