Paul Durkin
Paul Anthony Durkin (born 15 August 1955) is an English former football referee, who retired in 2004. He comes from the Isle of Portland in Dorset. He works as a referee assessor for the Football Association. Durkin was England's only referee at the 1998 FIFA World Cup Finals in France, where he refereed one match – the Group B encounter between Italy and Austria. In the same year, he refereed the FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Newcastle United, he was in charge of the 2003 Football League Cup Final between Liverpool and Manchester United. In 2004, Durkin appeared in ITV gameshow '' Simply the Best'' as the referee. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). Mike Riley (referee)
Michael "Mike" Anthony Riley (born 17 December 1964) is an English former professional football referee, who has refereed matches in the English Football League, Premier League, and for FIFA. Riley currently serves as the general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited. Career Riley was born in Leeds in West Yorkshire. He became a national Football League referee in 1994, having previously served five years on their assistant referees' list. He was later granted FIFA status in 1999 allowing him to officiate international fixtures. In 2002, Riley refereed the English FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea, which he later stated was "the highlight of my career". Riley took charge of the 2004 Football League Cup Final, between Bolton and Middlesbrough, in a game that saw all three goals scored within the first 25 minutes. Peter Jones (referee)
Peter Jones (born 24 February 1954)) is a former English football referee, who retired from officiating at the end of the 2001–02 season. He lives in Quorn, near Loughborough, Leicestershire, and works as a referee assessor. Career After appearing as a player in the Leicester City Mutual League, he first took up the whistle himself in a local club match in 1971 after he had seen a friend refereeing. He would then go on to officiate in the North Leicestershire League, Midland Intermediate League (dissolved 1988) and eventually the Southern League. He was promoted to the Football League list of referees in 1988, and he progressed to the FA Premier League list of referees in 1994.
