Paul Calvin Davis (born July 10, 1958) is a former American football linebacker who played three seasons in the National Football League with the Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals (NFL), St. Louis Cardinals. He played college football at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended Appalachia High School in Appalachia, Virginia. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. Appalachia is a town in Wise County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,754 at the 2010 census. History The Appalachia post office was established in 1898. The community was named for the surrounding Appalachian Mountains. The Derby Historic District, Kelly View School, and Stonega Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Appalachia was formerly home to three railroad companies.
