Paul Davies
Paul Charles William Davies (born 22 April 1946) is an English physicist, writer and broadcaster, a professor in Arizona State University and Director of BEYOND: Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science. He is affiliated with the Institute for Quantum Studies in Chapman University in California. He previously held academic appointments in the University of Cambridge, University College London, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, University of Adelaide and Macquarie University. His research interests are in the fields of cosmology, quantum field theory, and astrobiology. In 2005, he took up the chair of the SETI: Post-Detection Science and Technology Taskgroup of the International Academy of Astronautics. Paul Davies (footballer, Born 1952)
Paul Davies (born 10 October 1952) is a Welsh retired footballer, who played as a forward for Arsenal and Charlton Athletic in the 1970s. Born in Holywell, Flintshire, he is the younger brother of Southampton and Wales striker Ron Davies. He played as a schoolboy for Wales and joined Arsenal as a trainee, featuring in Arsenal's 1971 FA Youth Cup final triumph. He turned professional at Highbury in November 1969 and helped the Gunners win the Football Combination title that season. His solitary First Division appearance was as a substitute in Arsenal's 4–2 victory at home to Newcastle United in October 1971. He was sold to Charlton Athletic for £10,000 in November 1972 after a loan spell. He stayed with Charlton for two years, making a total of 67 appearances. Paul Andrew Davies (born 9 October 1960) is an English former professional footballer. Nicknamed "Ocker", he began his career in the Football League with Cardiff City. Early career Davies was born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, but first played professional football for Cardiff City, after joining the club from non-league side Oldswinford Town. He made his debut for the ''Bluebirds'' on 16 February 1980 in a 1–0 defeat to Bristol Rovers but made just one further appearance or the club before leaving. He joined Trowbridge Town and Dutch club Heracles Almelo, scoring 7 times in 9 appearances for the club, before signing for his home town side Kidderminster Harriers for £1,500 in 1983. Paul Davies (wheelchair Rugby)
Paul Andrew Davies, MBE is a former British wheelchair rugby player and former manager of the Great Britain national wheelchair rugby team. He was the manager for the team at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games (6th place), and won two European Championships. He was a Manager of the Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby Development Team from 2002 to 2005. In 1998, he successfully put together the first of two World Class Performance Lottery Bid Documents securing over £125,000. The second Bid Document was put together in November 2000 again successfully securing £113,590 until December 2001. In July 2002 he was involved in the first ever-integrated rugby tour (World Friendship Tour) between the GB Wheelchair Rugby Development Unit and Haslemere RFC based in Surrey. Paul Davies (born 12 October 1966) is a Welsh Paralympic table tennis player. Davies, who has played table tennis competitively since 1991, was selected for the 2012 Paralympic Games, and took the bronze medal in the men's individual class 1 event. Career history Davies was born in 1966 and grew up in Cardiff, Wales, before moving to Cornelly in Bridgend. In 1986 he was involved in a motorbike accident which left him paralyzed. Davies played table tennis in his free time, but in 1991 he became far more involved in the sport. A veteran of the sport for twenty years, Davies came to prominence in the build-up to the 2012 Summer Paralympics. In the 2011 European Championships in Split, Croatia, he and fellow British player Rob Davies took the silver medal in the class 1 men's team competition. Paul Davies (born 22 June 1970) is a Welsh former professional snooker player who lives in Cardiff. He turned professional in 1991. Initially based in Hampshire, Davies began his career in which he was mentored by a local amateur snooker player by the name of Bert Garland who died in 1996. Paul now owns his snooker cue. Career He made an immediate impact, reaching two semi-finals in his first 3 seasons – the 1991 Dubai Classic and the 1993 Asian Open, losing to the eventual champions (John Parrott and Dave Harold) in each case. However he has never gone this far in a ranking event again. He has never qualified for the World Championship, losing in the final qualifying round four times. Paul Davies work consists of painting and sculpture, created from hand-cut stencils, based in turn on the artists’ own digital photographs. Paul Windsor Davies (born 1969) is a British politician who currently serves as Member of the Senedd (MS) for Preseli Pembrokeshire, a position he has held since 2007 election. He gained the seat from Labour and was re-elected in May 2011, May 2016 and again in May 2021. Davies served as Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and Leader of the Opposition in Wales from 27 June 2018 to 23 January 2021, having previously been Deputy Leader from 2011 to 2018 and Acting Leader in 2011 and 2018. Richard Paul Davies (born 15 March 1973) is the current Archdeacon of Surrey and former Archdeacon of Bangor. Davies was educated at the University of Wales, Lampeter, the University of Oxford and Ripon College, Cuddesdon. He was ordained in 1997 in St Davids Cathedral, Pembrokeshire, where he served his title as a minor canon before incumbencies at Solva in Pembrokeshire and Burry Port in Carmarthenshire. He was appointed on 23 September 2011 and collated and installed as Archdeacon of Bangor and Anglesey in Bangor Cathedral on 19 February 2012.
