Paul Brewster (Gaelic Footballer)
Paul Brewster (born 20 August 1971) is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Fermanagh county team for a number of years. He played his club football with Enniskillen Gaels, with whom he won Fermanagh Senior Football Championships in 1992, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2006, he also won three Fermanagh Minor Football Championships. He also played for Queen's University Belfast, winning a Sigerson Cup as captain in 1993. He also played for Ireland in the 1998 International Rules Series The 1998 International Rules Series was the fifth annual series between Gaelic footballers from the Gaelic Athletic Association and Australian rules footballers from the Australian Football League and the first since it was cancelled in 1990. Fermanagh County Football Team
The Fermanagh county football team ( ) represents Fermanagh GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in the Gaelic sport of football. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Ulster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Fermanagh's home ground is Brewster Park, Enniskillen. The team's manager is Kieran Donnelly. The team has never won the Ulster Senior Championship, the All-Ireland Senior Championship or the National League. Enniskillen
Enniskillen ( , from ga, Inis Ceithleann , 'Cethlenn, Ceithlenn's island') is the largest town in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It is in the middle of the county, between the Upper and Lower sections of Lough Erne. It had a population of 13,823 at the United Kingdom census, 2011, 2011 Census. Enniskillen Castle was built in the 15th century as a stronghold of the Maguires, before coming under English control in the early 17th century. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Enniskillen Gaels
Enniskillen Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in based in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. History The club completed a six-in-a-row of Fermanagh titles between 1998 and 2003. Gaels reached the final of the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship twice during this period, losing to Crossmaglen Rangers in 1999 and to Errigal Ciarán in 2002. The bid for seven championships in a row was ended by Derrygonnelly Harps in the 2004 county final. That great team went on to win one further county title in 2006. The club went into decline over the next decade, and by 2016, were on the brink of relegation to Junior football, scraping through a relegation play-off. Backboned by the 2017 Ulster Minor winning team, the club would claim the Fermanagh Intermediate crown in 2020. In the team's first year at senior, they reached the county final. Sigerson Cup
The Sigerson Cup is the trophy for the premier Gaelic football championship among Higher Education institutions (Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Technology) in Ireland. It traditionally begins in mid January and ends in late February. The Sigerson Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. The Trench Cup is the second tier football competition, Corn na Mac Léinn the third tier and Corn Comhairle Ardoideachais the fourth tier. The 1998 International Rules Series was the fifth annual series between Gaelic footballers from the Gaelic Athletic Association and Australian rules footballers from the Australian Football League and the first since it was cancelled in 1990. It was part of a four-year agreement. Ireland and Australia both won a game however Ireland won the overall series by 10 points in aggregate.
