Paul Bevoir
Paul Bevoir (born 20 May 1960 in Islington, London, England) is an English pop-rock songwriter and musician. He is probably best known as a member of the 1980s English pop band the Jetset, ''AllMusic Guide – The Jetset''/ref> who were associated with the British mod revival. Early life Paul grew up in Islington, London, England, with a passion for pop music and pop culture. He attended Woodberry Down Comprehensive School, Manor House, North London, at the same time as the members of ska band Bad Manners, who were formed at the school, and after performing in a series of local bands himself, such as the Double Agents and the Cyclones, Bevoir formed The Jetset with friend and ice cream man Melvyn J Taub in July 1981. Thereza Bazar
Theresa Lorraine Bazar (born 23 May 1955) is a Canadian-born singer, best known as one half of the pop duo Dollar. Career Bazar met with success in her late teens as a member of 1970s group Guys 'n' Dolls, who scored a 1975 hit with "There's A Whole Lot of Lovin'" and went on to have a period of chart success, which also included "Here I Go Again On My Own", a composition by the 17-year-old Bazar. Disillusioned with the direction of the group, her then-boyfriend and bandmate David Van Day left the group and when Bazar was subsequently dismissed by the group, they formed Dollar in 1977. Their hits began with "Shooting Star" in 1978. They then had several big hits including "Love's Gotta Hold on Me" in 1979, " Mirror Mirror" in 1981 and "Give Me Back My Heart" in 1982, until "Oh L'amour" which hit the Top 10 across Europe in 1987. Puffy AmiYumi
is a Japanese pop rock duo formed in Tokyo in 1995, consisting of singers Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura. In the United States, they adopted the name Puffy AmiYumi to avoid legal naming conflicts with Sean Combs, who also performed under the name Puffy. They sing in Japanese and English. Onuki and Yoshimura were scouted by Sony-affiliated talent agencies and put together in the mid-1990s. Most of their work was produced or co-written by Tamio Okuda and Andy Sturmer, formerly of the bands Unicorn and Jellyfish, respectively. The pair's first release "Asia no Junshin" (1996) sold a million records. Tangerine Records is a UK-based independent record label founded in 1992 by musician Paul Bevoir, music journalist Chris Hunt and marketing executive John Ashworth. History Launching with a compilation of previously released material by The Jetset, throughout the 1990s the label specialised in reissuing CDs of collectable vinyl recordings, focusing on the mod, psychedelic, power pop and bubblegum pop genres. Acts released by the label have included The Jetset, The Moment, Direct Hits, Squire, The Cleaners From Venus, Dee Walker, Paul Bevoir and The V.I.P.'s. Raymond Ian Burns (born 24 April 1954), known by the stage name Captain Sensible, is an English singer, songwriter and guitarist. Captain Sensible co-founded the punk rock band The Damned (band), the Damned, originally playing bass before switching to guitar. He embarked on a solo career during the 1980s, following a UK Singles Chart, UK number one hit with his cover of "Happy Talk (song), Happy Talk". The Moment (band)
The Moment were among the leading bands of the 1980s UK mod revival, described retrospectively by Paul Moody of the ''NME'' as "English pop music's greatest ever secret". Formed in Haverhill, Suffolk, in 1983, The Moment were fronted by the singer-songwriter, Adrian Holder, releasing a series of singles, including "In This Town" (1984), "One, Two They Fly" (1985) and "Ready To Fall" (1988). They released one album, ''The Work Gets Done'', in 1985. "Sticks And Stones", a track released on the Countdown compilation album in 1986, saw The Moment described by British music paper '' Melody Maker'' as sounding "like The Jam wanting to be The Clash". Mari Macmillan Ramsay Wilson (born 29 September 1954, Neasden, London) is a British pop and jazz singer. She is best known for her 1982 UK top-10 hit single "Just What I Always Wanted" and her 1960s image complete with beehive hairstyle.
