Patrick O'Sullivan (born February 1, 1985) is a Canadian-born American former professional ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild and Phoenix Coyotes. Early life O'Sullivan was born in Toronto, Ontario, but grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His father, John O'Sullivan, a Toronto native, played for the minor-league Winston-Salem Thunderbirds of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. O'Sullivan has spoken openly about being emotionally and physically abused for years by his father. Patrick O'Sullivan is an Irish-British scholar, and author of major works in the field of Military geography. He is the author of the often cited texts ''The Geography of Warfare'' and ''The Geography of War in the Post-Cold War World''. Though the former was published in 1983 and the latter in 2001, these works remain the seminal texts of Military geography from a civilian publisher, due in large part to the present lack of interest in the subfield among geographers, aside from a small handful who critique militarization through critical theory. In his 1986 book ''Geopolitics'', Patrick O'Sullivan makes a geographically-based case against the proliferation of nuclear weapons during the Cold War, arguing that nuclear weapons pose a threat primarily because they reduce the significance of both physical distance and national borders, which would otherwise function as deterrents to the likelihood of direct military engagement. Patrick O' Sullivan (20 January 1835 – 25 February 1887) was a British lawyer of Irish origin who served as the Advocate-General of the Madras Presidency and ex-officio member of the Madras Legislative Council from 1877 to 1882. Patrick O'Sullivan (14 March 1818 – 29 February 1904) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography O'Sullivan was born in Castlemaine, County Kerry, the son of William O'Sullivan, a soldier, and his wife Ellen (née Moriarty). O'Sullivan was also a soldier, and was stationed in London with his regiment when Queen Victoria succeeded to the throne in 1837. Philip Patrick Henry Cronin (August 7, 1846 – May 4, 1889) was an Irish immigrant to the United States, a physician, and a member of Clan na Gael in Chicago. In 1889, Cronin was murdered by affiliates of Clan na Gael. Following an extensive investigation into his death, the murder trial was, at the time, the longest-running trial in U.S. history. Cronin's murder caused a public backlash against secret societies, including protests and written condemnations by the leadership of the Catholic Church. Cronin grew up in the U.S. and Canada, and moved to the Midwestern United States after the American Civil War. Pádraig O'Sullivan (born 11 May 1984) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Cork North-Central constituency since the 2019 by-election. Early life She was born in New Haven, Connecticut, daughter of Marguerite Lawton and Patrick Brett O'Sullivan, a US Representative from Connecticut (1923–1925) and member of the Connecticut Supreme Court (1950–1957).
