Patricia Loew
Patricia, "Patty" Loew is a journalist, professor, author, and community historian, broadcaster, documentary film maker, academic and advocate. She has written extensively about Ojibwe treaty rights, sovereignty and the role of Native American media in communicating Indigenous world views. Early life Patty Loew grew up in the north side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her grandfather, Edward DeNomie, a World War I veteran, lived for many years with her family. Education Loew pursued her BA in Mass Communications at University of Wisconsin La Crosse (1974). She later completed her Master's and PhD in Mass Communications at the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1992 and 1998 respectively. Career Loew began her career as a journalist in La Crosse, beginning with television and radio reporting. Bad River Band Of The Lake Superior Tribe Of Chippewa Indians
The Bad River LaPointe Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians or Bad River Tribe for short ( oj, Mashkii ziibii) are a federally recognized tribe of Ojibwe people. The tribe had 6,945 members as of 2010. The Bad River Reservation is located on the south shore of Lake Superior and has a land area of about in northern Wisconsin, straddling Ashland and Iron counties. Odanah, the administrative and cultural center, is located east of the town of Ashland on U.S. Highway 2. The reservation population was 1,545 in 2020. Most of the reservation is managed as undeveloped forest and wetland, providing a habitat for wild rice and other natural resources.
