St James, Victoria
St James is a town in northern Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the Shire of Moira local government area, north of the state capital, Melbourne. At the , St James had a population of 132. The town of St James came into being as a result of selectors taking up land in the district. The first selection of land in the St James area was thought to be in 1870. St James was the location of the first business of G.J Coles, founder of the Coles Group. Winton is a locality near Benalla, Victoria, Australia. The town of Winton was proclaimed on 25 February 1861. At the , Winton had a population of 108. It is located in the Glenrowan wine region within 50 km of some of the wineries of North East Victoria, as well as being close to other local attractions including Glenrowan, Victoria, Glenrowan, the site of the famous Bushranger Ned Kelly's last stand. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year.
