Pat Paulsen's Half A Comedy Hour
''Pat Paulsen's Half a Comedy Hour'' is an American half-hour television variety show that ran on ABC-TV on Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. from January 22, 1970, to April 16, 1970. The star was Pat Paulsen, who ran for the office of President of the United States in 1968. Paulsen had been a regular on '' The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour''. Jean Byron was a semi-regular. Writers included Steve Martin. Paulsen often spoofed '' Then Came Bronson'' and played a science teacher. Guest stars included Hubert Humphrey, Angie Dickinson, Tiny Tim, Miss Vickie, Mike Connors, Dan Blocker, Henry Fonda, Tommy Smothers, Don Rickles, Don Adams, Carl Betz, the animated Daffy Duck and Foghorn Leghorn and Joey Heatherton. On the April 9, 1970, episode, Paulsen sang the song "Did I Ever Really Live?", which was from his Mercury record album, ''Live at the Ice House''. The show was cancelled after 13 episodes. Pat Paulsen
Patrick Layton Paulsen (July 6, 1927 – April 25, 1997) was an American comedian and satirist notable for his roles on several of the Smothers Brothers television shows, and for his satirical campaigns for President of the United States between 1968 and 1996. Early life and education Paulsen was born July 6, 1927, in South Bend, Washington, a small fishing town in Pacific County. He was the son of Beulah Inez (née Fadden) and Norman Inge Paulsen, a Norwegian immigrant who worked for the Coast Guard. The family moved to California when he was 10, where he graduated from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley in May 1945. Paulsen joined the Marine Corps after high school, when World War II was still being waged, but it ended before he was shipped overseas. However, he did experience overseas duty, including guarding captured Japanese soldiers during their repatriation. Thomas Bolyn Smothers III (born February 2, 1937) is an American comedian, composer and musician, best known as half of the musical comedy duo the Smothers Brothers, alongside his younger brother Dick. Early life Smothers was born in 1937 at the Fort Jay army post hospital on Governors Island in New York City, the son of Ruth (''née'' Remick), a homemaker; and Major Thomas B. Smothers, an army officer who died a POW, of the Japanese, in April 1945. After moving to California, he graduated from Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, California. He was a competitive unicyclist, and a state champion gymnast in the parallel bars. Smothers later attended San José State University, then known as San José State College. Foghorn Leghorn is a cartoon rooster who appears in ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoons and films from Warner Bros. Animation.
