Pastor Jarman kommer hjem is a 1958 Norwegian crime drama directed by Arne Skouen. It features Henki Kolstad as the reverend Jarman. The title translates as "Reverend Jarman Returns". Plot When Jarman (Henki Kolstad), a ship's chaplain, returns to Oslo from a voyage to New Orleans, he is called to the deathbed of a wounded sailor. Arne Skouen
Arne Skouen (18 October 1913 – 24 May 2003) was a Norwegian journalist, author, film director and film producer. Biography Arne Skouen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. His parents were Peder Nikolai Skouen (1883-1978) and Jenny Emanuelson (1883-1975). He graduated at Hegdehaugen School in 1933. He had three distinct career careers: journalist, author and filmmaker, partly at the same time. He was a journalist at ''Dagbladet'' from 1935 to 1941. From 1941 during World War II, Skouen was associated with the Norwegian Resistance Movement during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. From 1943 to 1945, Skouen worked at the press office in Stockholm, London, and New York City. After the liberation of Norway at the end of World War II, he returned to ''Dagbladet'' as a columnist, serving from 1946 to 1947. He then worked at ''Verdens Gang'' from 1947 to 1957. Henki Kolstad
Henki Kolstad (3 February 1915 – 14 July 2008) was a Norwegian actor and pop-cultural national treasure. With his debut at the Oslo national theater, he was known for his appearances in '' Olsenbanden'', the children's series Jul i Skomakergata,English: Christmas in Shoemaker Street ''(literal)'' or A Shoemaker's Christmas''(release title)''. ''Herr Klinke'' in ''Den Spanske Flue'', and ''Vi gifter oss''. Notable mentions include the Amanda and the Order of St. Olav awards. Kolstad and his wife Else were together for 76 years. They had one son and two daughters. Henny Moan
Henny Moan (born 22 February 1936) is a Norwegian actress from Finnmark. She has had a long career in theatre, but is best known for her roles in certain classics of Norwegian cinema, such as the Oscar-nominated '' Nine Lives'' (1957) and '' Lake of the Dead'' (1958). Moan was married to the author André Bjerke for a period. Biography At the age of 17 she left her home in Finnmarkwhere she worked at a gas stationwithout telling anyone where she was going. The "dice throw" ( no, terningkast) is a method of review which is often used in Norway. It is characterized by the use of a white-on-red die graphic to represent the movie's rating in the review, and is similar to stars or letters used in other countries. The format was introduced by film director and then-film critic Arne Skouen, who, writing for ''Verdens Gang'' on 31 March 1952, stated the need of "having a film première characterized in a short, concise form". To do this, he used a standard die with six pips, where one marked the lowest possible rating of a film, and six marked the highest. In some cases, a die with zero pips has been used, meaning awful. Similarly, people sometimes allude to "seven pips", meaning extraordinarily good. Usage In time, the dice throw spread to other parts of the media.
