Past Our Means
''Past Our Means'' is a six track EP by Californian hardcore punk, Ignite. It was released on September 13, 1996 on Revelation Records. It follows the previous year's full-length album ''Call On My Brothers''. Overview Ignite, at the time of this EP, played melodic hardcore, heavily influenced by bands like Government Issue and No For An Answer – not least because of Zoli Teglas' vocal style and patterns. Short, fast-paced songs punctuated only by the stomping mid-tempo of "In Defense". Lyrically, most songs tackle subjects such as loyalty, society, and general strife. However, on the final track, "Taken Away", Teglas draws on his experiences in his Hungarian homeland. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Its roots can be traced to earlier punk scenes in San Francisco and Punk rock in California, Southern California which arose as a reaction against the still predominant History of the hippie movement, hippie cultural climate of the time. It was also inspired by Washington D.C. and New York City, New York punk rock and early proto-punk. Hardcore punk generally disavows commercialism, the established music industry and "anything similar to the characteristics of Rock music, mainstream rock" and often addresses social and political topics with "confrontational, politically-charged lyrics." Ignite / Good Riddance
Ignite / Good Riddance is a split EP by the hardcore punk bands Ignite and Good Riddance, released in 1996 through Revelation Records. Good Riddance's tracks were two of seven that had been demoed for their second album ''A Comprehensive Guide to Moderne Rebellion'' but had been left off the record; they were recorded in a separate session from the album, with Andy Ernst at Art of Ears, and used on split EPs with Reliance, Ignite, Ill Repute, and Ensign over the following year. Reflecting on the song "Twenty-One Guns", Good Riddance singer Russ Rankin said it was "a song about the plight of a soldier risking his life in some remote outpost for a cause he isn't privy to. The irony that we flippantly waste so much human life but wait until someone's death to bestow all of this honor and ceremony upon them. Musically a very angry song, very Born Against sounding to me now." "Class War 2000" was influenced musically by T.S.O.L. and lyrically by The Dils' 1977 song "Class War", after w ...

Octave Effect
Octave effect boxes are a type of special effects unit which mix the input signal with a synthesised signal whose musical tone is an octave lower or higher than the original. The synthesised octave signal is derived from the original input signal by halving (octave-down) or doubling (octave-up) the frequency. This is possible due to the simple two-to-one relationship between the frequencies of musical notes which are separated by an octave. One of the first popular musicians to employ the octave effect was Jimi Hendrix, who also used a variety of other effects in his recordings and public performances. Hendrix used an octave-fuzz pedal known as the octavia. Analog octave effects differ from harmonizers and pitch shifters which digitally sample the sound and process it to change its pitch. Creation of the octave Octave up Octave-up effects usually use full wave rectification using diodes to "fold up" the negative part of the waveform to make a new waveform an octave hi ...

Revelation Records EPs
In religion and theology, revelation is the revealing or disclosing of some form of truth or knowledge through communication with a deity or other supernatural entity or entities. Background Inspiration – such as that bestowed by God on the author of a sacred book – involves a special illumination of the mind, in virtue of which the recipient conceives such thoughts as God desires him to commit to writing, and does not necessarily involve supernatural communication. With the Age of Enlightenment in Europe, beginning about the mid-17th century, the development of rationalism, materialism and atheism, the concept of supernatural revelation itself faced skepticism. In ''The Age of Reason'' (1794–1809), Thomas Paine developed the theology of deism, rejecting the possibility of miracles and arguing that a revelation can be considered valid only for the original recipient, with all else being hearsay. Types Individual revelation Thomas Aquinas believed in two types of indiv ...
