Pasca Cheruiyot
Pasca Jerono (née Cheptanui Cheruiyot; formerly Pasca Myers, born July 27, 1986) is a Kenyan-born American middle- and long-distance runner best known for winning the 2014 Grandma's Marathon in 2:33:45. Early career Myers grew up in Marakwet District, Kenya. Like other freshmen in her high school, she was required to run during her first semester. Sally Kipyego was also at the school, and the two both competed through the regionals and into the province races (one step below nationals) in Kenya. After college scouts spotted her, she traveled to attend college in the US. Finances kept her from attending a NCAA D-I school, so she began college at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois, in 2007. The small school, part of the NJCAA D-II Great Rivers Athletic Conference had been a starting point for other Kenyan distance runners such as Kipyego and Stephen Sambu. Long-distance Running
Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. Florida State Seminoles Track And Field
The track and field teams of Florida State University, (variously Florida State or FSU), are currently coached by Bob Braman and compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The men's team has won fourteen indoor conference championships, thirty-five outdoor conference championships, and two outdoor national championships. The women's team has won four indoor conference championships, nine outdoor conference championships, four indoor national championships, and three outdoor national championships. In 2022, Trey Cunningham won the individual national title in hurdles and won the Bowerman Award. Alevtina Ivanova
Alevtina Ivanova (russian: Алевтина Иванова) (born 22 May 1975) is a Russian long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. She has won at the Prague International Marathon (in 2002) and the Nagano Olympic Commemorative Marathon (in 2007 and 2008). Ivanova has competed much on the road running circuit in the United States and has won the Beach to Beacon 10K, Crim 10-Mile Race, News and Sentinel Half Marathon and America's Finest City Half Marathon. She has represented Russia internationally in cross country running: she was the best-performing European in the short race at the 2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and took part in the 2006 European Cross Country Championships. In addition to professional competition, she has acted as a pacemaker in major marathons in Japan. Amway River Bank Run
The Amway River Bank Run is an annual road running race hosted by Amway in U.S. city of Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the month of May. The 25K run was created and first held in 1978 by Old Kent Bank as the Old Kent River Bank Run and continued under that name until 2000, when its name was changed to the Fifth Third River Bank Run. The name of the race changed again in late 2018 when Amyway agreed to take over primary sponsorship of the race from Fifth Third Bank. Today, the race draws over 22,000 participants from around the world. It features the largest 25K road race in the country, and is the site for the USA 25 km Open and Masters Championships.
