Pasang Lhamu Sherpa
Pasang Lhamu Sherpa (Sherpa: , ne, पासाङ ल्हामु शेर्पा; 10 December 1961 – 22 April 1993) was the first Nepalese woman to climb the summit of Mount Everest. She was born in a mountaineering family and was involved in climbing from her teens. She had successfully climbed Mount Blanc, Mount Cho Oyu, Mount Yalapic, Pisang Himal, and others. She had attempted to climb Mount Everest three times before, but did not succeed until April 22, 1993, when she reached the summit by the South Col via the Southeast Ridge route. The morning of April 22, 1993 was bright and clear, and remained so until Pasang reached the top of the 8,848 m. peak with five Sherpas, Sonam Tshering Sherpa, Lhakpa Norbu Sherpa, Pemba Dorje Sherpa and Dawa Tashi Sherpa. Jhapa District
Jhapa ( ne, झापा जिल्ला; ) is a district of Province No. 1 in eastern Nepal named after a Rajbanshi word "Jhapa" meaning "to cover" (verb). The latest official data, the 2021 Nepal Census, puts the total population of the district at 994,090. The total area of the district is 1,606 square kilometres. Lhakpa Sherpa
Lhakpa Sherpa (also Lakpa) ( ne, Lakhpa Sherpa; born 1973) is a Nepalese Sherpa mountain climber. She has climbed Mount Everest ten times, the most of any woman in the world. Her record-breaking tenth climb was on May 12, 2022, which she financed via a crowd-funding campaign. In 2000, she became the first Nepali woman to climb and descend Everest successfully. In 2016, she was listed as one of BBC's 100 Women. Early life Lhakpa Sherpa was born in a cave in the region, and had no formal education. She grew up in Balakharka, a village in the Makalu, Nepal region of the Himalayas. She is one of 11 children, and is a single mother of two daughters and a son herself. Career In 2000 she was the leader of an expedition sponsored by Asian Trekking. Shriya Shah-Klorfine
Shriya Shah-Klorfine (January 11, 1979 – May 19, 2012) was a Nepal-born Canadian woman who died while descending from the summit of Mount Everest in 2012. Early life Shah-Klorfine was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, according to ''CityNews''. At the age of nine, Shah-Klorfine had taken a helicopter tour of Mount Everest with her father. She attended Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal. She grew up in Mumbai, India, which she left to work on cruise ships as a purser. While working on a cruise ship, she met her future husband Bruce Klorfine, who was a jazz and event piano player. They married and settled in his hometown of Toronto, Canada where she became a fashion buyer for the Fairweather women's clothing chain. They were together for about a decade before she died on Everest. Shah-Klorfine was also a businesswoman who started "SOS Splash of Style Inc."
