Partha Chatterjee (politician)
Partha Chatterjee (born 6 October 1952) is an Indian politician who earlier served as the Minister of Commerce and Industries and formerly served as the Education Minister of Government of West Bengal. He represented the Trinamool Congress. He also held the political office of Secretary General of the All India Trinamool Congress. In 2022, he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the School Service Commission (SSC) scam in West Bengal. Early life Partha Chatterjee was born in Calcutta. His alma mater is Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur though Some former students of the Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission claimed that the suspended Trinamool Congress leader, Partha Chatterjee was only there for a year, after which he was given a transfer certificate. Partha Chatterjee (scholar)
Partha Chatterjee (born 5 November 1947) is an Indian political scientist and anthropologist. He was the director of the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta from 1997 to 2007 and continues as an honorary professor of political science. He is also a professor of anthropology and South Asian studies at Columbia University and a member of the Subaltern Studies Collective. Chatterjee received the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in 2009. Education He completed a BA (1967) and an M.A (1970) in political science from Presidency College, Calcutta and Calcutta University respectively. He completed his Ph.D. (1972) in international relations from the University of Rochester. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's bicameral parliament.
