Parsons Green (The Green)
Parsons Green is a relatively small triangle of former common land in the Parsons Green area of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It is named after the rectors of the parish of Fulham whose residence once adjoined this patch of land and subsequently the name was adopted for the district. From the late 17th-century onwards, the area surrounding Village green, the green became the focus for fine houses and grounds built by merchants and the gentry within easy distance of London, yet in a more salubrious setting than the urban environs. A number of Georgian architecture, Georgian houses have survived, some of them replacing earlier Tudor period, Tudor and Elizabethan era, Elizabethan buildings. At the end of the 19th-century, the District Railway was extended towards the Thames and Wimbledon, London, Wimbledon. Parsons Green is an above-ground London Underground station on the branch of the District line that opened in 1880. It is between and stations and is in Zone 2. Lady Margaret School
Lady Margaret School an all-girls' Church of England secondary school in Parsons Green, Fulham, London. It was awarded specialist school status (a government funding scheme defunct since 2010) as a Mathematics & Computing College in September 2003, and became an academy in September 2012. In September 2017 it celebrated its 100th anniversary. Princess Alexandra is patron of the centenary having previously opened the new assembly hall in 1965.
