Parsley Sidings
''Parsley Sidings'' is a BBC Radio sitcom of the early 1970s created by Jim Eldridge. It stars Arthur Lowe and Ian Lavender (who were starring in the sitcom ''Dad's Army'' at the time) and Kenneth Connor from the ''Carry On'' films. The show is set in a sleepy out of the way railway station on the main line between London and Birmingham, in the Midlands. The main characters are the station master, Mr Horace Hepplewhite (played by Arthur Lowe); his son, Bertrand (Ian Lavender); station porter Percy Valentine (Kenneth Connor); Mr Bradshaw, the signalman (also played by Kenneth Connor, as was Clara the station hen); and station tannoy announcer Gloria Simpkins (Liz Fraser, who was also in the ''Carry On'' films, and appeared in the Dad's Army feature film). Roger Roger (composer)
Roger Roger (5 August 1911 – 12 June 1995) was a French composer of light orchestral music and film scores, as well as a conductor and bandleader. His aliases included Eric Swan and Cecil Leuter, the last being a pseudonym he used for his electronic music productions, of which he was somewhat of a pioneer. He is best known for his intricately composed and arranged orchestral contributions to commercial production music during the 1950s and 1960s, many of which have more recently achieved wider recognition. BBC Radio 4 Extra (formerly BBC Radio 7) is a British digital radio station from the BBC, broadcasting archived repeats of comedy, drama and documentary programmes nationally, 24 hours a day. Edward Taylor (scriptwriter)
Edward Taylor, (born 1931) is a British dramatist and radio producer best known for the BBC Radio Comedy series ''The Men from the Ministry''. Originally intending to seek a career in acting, Taylor applied to join Cambridge University, appearing in the 1955 Cambridge Footlights revue and becoming a scriptwriter after being noticed by a BBC talent scout and hired for a one-year contract. Taylor's career with the BBC subsequently lasted for 36 years, during which he wrote a total of 2,300 programmes. He also produced several shows, not just situation comedies that he had written (or co-written) himself but also comedy panel games, including some editions of '' Just a Minute''. Taylor came up with the idea for ''The Men from the Ministry'' after a lunch with actor friend Richard Murdoch in the early 1960s, during which Murdoch asked Taylor to write a comedy for him to appear in. ''King Street Junior'' is a radio comedy which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 between March 1985 and November 1998. The show ran for ten series and the cast included Peter Davison, James Grout and Karl Howman. The series is written by Jim Eldridge. Research for the show was done at Newtown Road School in Carlisle. A continuation series aired in 2002 and was named '' King Street Junior Revisited''. Keith Skues
Richard Keith Skues MBE, AE (born 4 March 1939) is a British radio personality. His career spans over 60 years. Biography Skues was born in Timperley, Cheshire. His broadcasting career began on the British Forces Network in Cologne, Germany, in 1959. This was followed by overseas tours to Kuwait, Kenya and Aden. He returned to Britain in 1964 and joined Radio Atlanta, which then merged with Radio Caroline. He is credited with making The Byrds recording of Bob Dylan's Mr Tambourine Man a hit in the UK Charts, released on the CBS record label. With that in mind, he was offered the CBS record show on Radio Luxembourg starting in January 1966. It was here that he began using an instrumental version of ''Mr Tambourine Man'' by The Golden Gate Strings as his theme tune, which he still used as of 2020. Roger Caesar Marius Bernard de Delgado Torres Castillo Roberto (1 March 1918 – 18 June 1973) was a British actor. He played many roles on television, radio and in films, and had "a long history of playing minor villains" before becoming best known as the first actor to play the Master in ''Doctor Who'' (1971–73).
