Parmjit Singh Gill
Parmjit Singh Gill (born 20 December 1966) is a British Liberal Democrats (UK), Liberal Democrat politician. As Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament for Leicester South (UK Parliament constituency), Leicester South from July 2004 to May 2005, he was the first ethnic minority, ethnic-minority Liberal Democrat MP. He was first elected as Liberal Democrat councillor for Leicester City Council's Stoneygate Ward, before being elected to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons at the 2004 Leicester South by-election, Leicester South by-election on 15 July 2004. He contested the seat again at the 2005 United Kingdom general election, 2005 general election, but this time came second to the Labour Party (UK), Labour Party candidate, Sir Peter Soulsby. Parmjit Dhanda
Parmjit Singh Dhanda (born 17 September 1971) is a British Labour Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gloucester from 2001 until the 2010 general election, succeeding Tess Kingham as the Labour MP for the seat. Background Parmjit Singh Dhanda was born on 17 September 1971 in Hillingdon, West London to immigrant Indian Punjabi Sikh parents, and was brought up in Southall. His mother was a cleaner at a local hospital, whilst his father was a lorry driver. He was educated at Mellow Lane School, a state Comprehensive School in Hayes, Middlesex, before attending the University of Nottingham, where he received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1993, and an MA in information technology in 1995. Parmjit Singh "Peter" Sandhu is a Canadian politician and former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the constituency of Edmonton-Manning as a Progressive Conservative. Early life Sandhu, who grew up in a farming family, left his native India for Canada at the age of 18 in 1979, settling in the Vancouver area after marrying Kamal Sandhu. Two years later, he moved to Alberta and got a job at a steel factory. After a workplace injury in 1987 that negatively impacted his health, Peter Sandhu began building homes on the side while still working as a crane operator at the plant. For 10 years, he worked two jobs; a homebuilder and realtor by day and a crane operator by night.
