Smith Street Motorway, Gold Coast
Smith Street Motorway (SR10) (or the Smith Street extension) is a motorway grade extension of Smith Street. It connects Southport, the Gold Coast's CBD to the Pacific Motorway. The road is motorway standard for from the Pacific Motorway (exit 66), until the Parklands Drive intersection. It then runs as a divided road until High Street in Southport, where it becomes North Street until the Gold Coast Highway. The motorway passes by the city's Health and Knowledge precinct, home to Griffith University, Gold Coast University Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. A new iconic red bridge for pedestrians across Smith Street was completed in early 2007. GCUH Bus Station
Gold Coast University Hospital light rail station (also known GCUH or University Hospital) is a major public transport interchange, providing an important bus - light rail interchange for the Gold Coast suburb of Southport. GCUH is part of the Gold Coast's G:link light rail network and was the original northern terminus of the G:link until an extension was completed to Helensvale in 2017. The Gold Coast University Hospital station is the only underground light rail station for network and provides a bus interchange located on the street level. Griffith University
Griffith University is a public research university in South East Queensland on the east coast of Australia. Formally founded in 1971, Griffith opened its doors in 1975, introducing Australia's first degrees in environmental science and Asian studies. Helensvale railway station is a major public transport interchange in the Gold Coast suburb of Helensvale. Helensvale railway station is served by the Queensland Rail Citytrain network Gold Coast line, G:link light rail and Surfside Buslines bus services. History Helensvale station opened on 25 February 1996 as the terminus of the Gold Coast line from Beenleigh. The line was later extended to Nerang on 16 December 1997. When opened, Helensvale station was also served by a CountryLink road coach service from Murwillumbah, this was diverted when the line was extended south. Surfside Buslines was an Australian bus operator on the Gold Coast in Queensland. It operated 56 services under contract to the Government of Queensland under the TransLink banner. It also operates nine services in the adjoining Tweed Valley of northern New South Wales under contract to the Government of New South Wales.
